2 It is hard to believe that it has been 33 years since former Mayor Bob Martinez established the Mayor s Hispanic Advisory Council (MHAC). Perhaps the best way to qualify and quantify our service to each City mayor since then is to glance at the list of Latinos Unidos Luncheon keynote speakers and recognize their caliber and influence; to learn about the initiatives we have pioneered on behalf of the City for the benefit of our Hispanic community; and to look at the growing endowments we have created at each of our educational institutions, University of South Florida, University of Tampa and Hillsborough Community College. Our scholarships are creating opportunities for talented students who might otherwise forgo a college education to pursue their college dreams! This is how we do it! I hope you will join our efforts! 3 Latinos Unidos Luncheon This annual MHAC event showcases the rising influence and economic impact of Hispanics in our Tampa Bay area, our state, and nation. Leaders from the corporate or non-profit world are invited keynote speakers at the luncheon. All net proceeds of the event are designated for local Hispanic students with financial need attending Hillsborough Community College, the University of South Florida, and the University of Tampa through MHAC endowments established at these institutions. With attendance in excess of four hundred each year, the Latinos Unidos Luncheon is one of the most successful Hispanic events in the area and draws a diverse audience of business and community leaders. Past keynote speakers include: Rudy Beserra, VP Coca-Cola, John C. Guerra, Jr., VP AT&T Latin America, Charles C. 4 2016 Latinos Unidos Luncheon Keynote Speaker Jorge M. Pérez is the founder and Chairman of The Related Group, the nation s leading developer of multi-family residences. In August of 2005, TIME Magazine named Mr. Pérez one of top 25 most influential Hispanics in the United States. Under his direction, The Related Group and its affiliates have redefined the South Florida landscape.
