More Than a Goal: Strategies to Support Future Orientation in Youth Youth who feel hopeful about the future and identify multiple strategies to achieve their goals experience greater academic success. And yet, setting goals with youth and encouraging them to believe in their own capacity to follow through is often more difficult than expected. In this workshop, we ll identify and practice a network of strategies to influence future orientation in youth, including affirming values, distinguishing between learning and performance goals, and envisioning multiple visions of the future. Arts Partner Professional Development Workshops Three-hour workshops throughout the year offering training and support for both new and continuing SPS arts partnerships. Topics may include: Planning, valuation and Assessment, Community ngagement, Culturally Relevant Teaching, Racial Justice in Arts ducation, 21 st Century Arts Learning, Arts Partnership Tools, Arts Integration, etc. Participants receive clock hours for participating. Structural Racism A thorough understanding of structural racism can help all professionals provide effective services for youth and their families. In this session we will explain structural racism, provide examples of and data on structural racism, and discuss implications for youth. The material can be emotionally challenging and we will provide what we hope will be a helpful structure for understanding and a learning environment for every participant to grow. Continuous Improvement Using Data Using data to inform your programmatic and youth serving decisions is a skillset that is very powerful for all community partners to continually develop. In this workshop community partners will develop their own logic model and practice using data in a cycle of continuous improvement. Introduction to Current Academic Priorities in As a community-based organization serving Seattle Public Schools students, do you seek to align out-ofschool-time academic strategies and content with school-day instruction? This workshop will provide an overview of district-wide priorities and initiatives, with breakout sessions focused on Math, Literacy, and Science content and strategies for students in grades K-8 (the February 25 th session will focus on strategies for grades 6-12). How can we help them persevere at times when they feel they are not meeting the academic, social, or skillbased expectations of school, home or community?
