7 Training & Development Code of Practice Access to Services Selection of participants to education programs is conducted in a fair, ethical and responsible manner that complies with all relevant legislation. A strict No fee, No booking applies to reserve a position in courses/study days. Study Days Applicants for study days are considered as received until allocated positions are filled. Names and contact details of additional applicants are taken and held on file in the event of cancellations. Those who do not secure a place will be offered the opportunity to attend the next planned study day. Courses Applications for courses are held until the closing date. Each applicant is assessed, without bias, according to the specific entry criteria for that course. Offers are made to successful applicants until all available places are filled. Successful applicants who meet the criteria but do not secure a place will be offered the opportunity to attend the next planned course. Learner Facilities The hospital offers comfortable training facilities that are conducive to learning. Participants should dress for air-conditioned facilities. Venue room temperatures vary. Please wear layered clothing for your comfort. A variety of cafés are available providing refreshments at reasonable cost. As a courtesy to other participants, it is requested that mobile phones are turned off/silent. Parking Fees apply for on-site parking Parking is limited in 2014 due to building works. Street parking is limited to two hours. Please observe parking signs to avoid an infringement. Public Transport For information call or visit No Smoking Facility We have a no smoking facility policy on the grounds of the hospital. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) The procedure for RPL is available upon request from the Training & Development Manager, and requires candidates to provide evidence of their skills/knowledge and involves a process of assessment (fees may also apply). Recognition of Qualifications issued by other Registered Training Organisations (RTO) Hollywood Private Hospital will recognise relevant qualifications/statements of attainment issued by other RTOs. Program Information

8 Sustainability As part of an organisation commitment to excellence in sustainability, photocopies of slide presentations are not given as handouts; participants are encouraged to bring their own note paper. Cancellation Study days and courses with insufficient applicants will be cancelled. Notice of cancellation by applicants must be within the specified time-frame for each program (see also fees/refunds). Fees/Refunds Where a cost is incurred for training, payment is required at the time of application. All fees are receipted and protected until training is completed. All fees include GST. Refunds are granted to applicants who give at least seven 7 days notice of their withdrawal prior to commencement of a study day and 14 days notice for courses (unless otherwise stated). All refunds are subject to an administration fee deduction. If the program is cancelled by Hollywood Private Hospital, full payment is refunded. Training Delivery and Assessment To assist with smooth running, all programs will commence on time. It is expected that participants will register 15 minutes prior to commencement time. All trainers hold relevant teaching/assessing qualifications and/or industry experience. Assessment practices comply with the Australian Quality Training Framework guidelines. Education is based on the principles of adult learning. Certification (Nationally Recognised Training only) Certificates will be issued to participants detailing Nationally Recognised qualifications completed. A statement of attainment will be provided to participants who have been assessed as competent in one or more units of competency that do not make up a full Nationally Recognised Qualification. Records of Nationally Recognised Qualifications issued are held for 30 years and can be accessed by writing to the Training & Development Manager (fees apply for re-issue of certificates). Privacy Statement We are committed to protecting your privacy. Personal information you provide to us on your Registration Form will be used to: process your registration and provide pre-reading (if applicable); contact you in the event of a cancellation; meet State regulatory reporting as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). 13 Continence Nurse Consultants Course Aim/Description This course aims to promote awareness of the unique role of the continence nurse consultant (advisor) in the health care team by providing a scientific knowledge base from which to practice this nursing speciality in accordance with the National Competencies for Continence Nurse Advisors. 16 Diploma in Paramedical Science (Anaesthesia) (HLT50612) Aim/Description This qualification by Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) verifies existing knowledge and competencies of employees in anaesthetics in the safe operation of equipment during induction, maintenance and completion of anaesthesia. Cost $250 enrolment fee $250 payable on completion Prerequisites Candidates must be Ramsay Healthcare employees Have at least 2,000 hours (250 x 8 hour shifts) of supervised and appropriate experience in the role of anaesthetic technician Industry experience must be current, having been practiced in the last two years. Following approval this form is forwarded to Regional Training & Development Manager, Hollywood Private Hospital. Enrolment forms will then be sent to the candidate. Step 2 Candidate completes the portfolio assessment kit and returns with all evidence to Regional Training & Development Manager. Step 3 Program assessor reviews theoretical assessment and makes a judgement of competency to meet the national qualification. Any gaps in knowledge will require the candidate to undertake and pass a workbook on the relevant unit. Step 4 Program assessor will arrange for an observation assessment of the candidate in their workplace against the anaesthetic units of competency. After observation assessment the candidate may be required to participate in an oral viva assessment. This will be on skills not available to determine competence e.g. assist with an emergency. 13 Program Information 2014

17 Step 5 Program assessor makes a judgement on observation and oral viva evidence against competency units required for national qualification. Candidate is notified of decision. If competent, an overall 3 rd party report is completed by their manager and proceeds to Step 8. 24 Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Understanding Personality Types in the Workplace Aim/Description The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (based on Carl Jung s Personality Types, 1920) is a framework for understanding personality types. It is a self-report questionnaire designed to understand how different personalities communicate, take in information, make decisions and more.
