2 Purpose of Today s Redwood City School District (RCSD) cares about what parents believe will have the greatest impact on student achievement. Today s is part of RCSD s community outreach plan to gather feedback on for the Local Control Accountability Plan. You also had an opportunity to respond to the Parent Family Survey this Fall. The goal today is to LISTEN and to hear your feedback on some target 2

6 LCAP FUNDING LCAP is Mainly Funded by LCFF Supplemental and Grant 2014/15 Grant: $5.3 Million 2015/16 Projected Grant: $7.3 Million Other Targeted Funds: Title I: To Support Low Income Students Title III: To Support English Learners

8 Purchasing More Tech Invested in a lot of technology so far this year. We exceeded our goal at some sites and now have 1 computer for every two students at some sites. Implemented infrastructure and hardware for Tai and Hoover schools (based on receiving $1 million grant from Start Up Facebook provided Hoover, Tai and Fair Oaks Schools with Chrome Books. Provided for parents and guardians to engage with their children in technology via parent classes. 8
9 Smaller Classes Explored the of class size in Kindergarten/ 1 st grade 9
10 Increased Provided an ongoing salary increase of 3.5% to all staff 10
11 Professional Development The school- wide staff development calendar is complete. Coaches each site to help with ELA and math. Plan and materials were purchased for reading plan for math is being considered. Explored and common District wide on professional development topics. Teacher and staff training for language arts, English language learning. Professional development for all Pre- K- 8 th teachers and support staff on best to meet needs of at low Income, English Learners and foster youth. 11
12 Other things we did More parent engagement this year. PIQUE and CBET programs have as well as school- wide discipline programs at school. Familias Unidas has been implemented at two school sites this year (Hoover and Tai). Provided summer school for English Learners and struggling students in summer of Providing to parents and community on an as needed basis. Providing healthier, more snacks during extended days 12
