1 February 1, 2016 Dear Assistant Governors, Presidents, Committee Chair, and Fellow Rotarians, Please find enclosed information regarding the upcoming opportunity to submit applications for the 2016 Rotary Peace Fellow Scholarship. Thanks to all of you, District 5440 has had outstanding candidates in the past!!! This worldwide highly competitive scholarship has only been offered for the past 14 years. The purpose of this program is to create an international cadre of phenomenal individuals that will help in the Peace and Conflict Resolution processes on a national and international basis with the end result of bringing about World Peace, just as we have sought to eradicate Polio on an international basis. Our district has been a supporter of this Rotary initiative since its inception. Amazingly, District 5440 has had the distinct honor of having 7 of our applicants selected as Rotary Peace Fellows. Our Peace Fellows and District Rotarians should be proud! Please know: The money for this scholarship is provided by The Rotary Foundation NOT the district. It is a worldwide fellowship; therefore, the district can recommend and endorse as many candidates as they choose, and these candidates can be from other districts and countries. While we do focus on getting district applicants, we have sponsored applicants outside the country. The District Scholarship Committee is again looking forward to receiving your Rotary Peace Fellow applications. In an effort to make this process easier for you, we are providing you with information that we hope will be helpful in your search and selection of World Peace Fellow applicants. Please don t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions! Yours In Rotary Service, Mary O Neal, Charlie Peterson, G Jean Morrell, Rollin Abernethy, District 5440 Page 1 of 13
