ShoreWare Director allows you to configure DiffServ or ToS Byte settings in the Call Control Options page (see below for example). Please note that ShoreWare Director requires the settings in decimal, thus a DiffServ setting of 46 corresponds to a setting of 184, a ToS/ P Precedence setting of 5 corresponds to a setting of 160. Configuring this parameter with the actual DiffServ or ToS Byte setting will result in undesired results. For further assistance in configuring the DiffServ/ToS Byte parameter, please refer to ShoreTel s Administration Guide or contact ShoreTel s Technical Assistance Center
Trapeze Configuration Connecting to a Serial Management Console Initial configuration of the MX switch requires a connection to the switch s command-line interface (CLI) through the serial console port. The procedure is the same on all Trapeze WLAN Controller models. To connect a PC to the serial console port: 1. Insert the serial cable into the PC port. 2. Insert the other end of the cable into the serial console port on the MX switch. 3. Start a standard VT100 terminal emulation application on the PC, and configure the following modem settings: 9600 bps 8 bits 1 stop No parity - 7 -
Hardware flow control off or disabled 4. Open a connection on a serial port. If the MX switch is already powered on, press ENTER three times to display a command prompt: MX-20> To configure a new MX from scratch, type enter enable mode. MXR-2-330A0C> en The default password on a new MX is <null>. Enter password: At the # prompt, type quickstart and follow the wizard. You can just hit ENTER to accept defaults. MXR-2-330A0C# quickstart This will erase any existing config. Continue? [n]: <yes> Answer the following questions. Enter? for help. ^C to break out System Name [MXR-2]: <real name of the MX> Country Code [US]: <country of operation> System IP address []: <IPv4 IP Address> System IP address netmask []: <subnet mask> Default route []: <IPv4 default gateway address> Do you need to use 802.1Q tagged ports for connectivity on the default VLAN? [n]: n Enable WebView [y]: <y enable WebView as further configuration will use it> Admin username [admin]: <change admin user name or enter to leave as is> Admin password [mandatory]: <must put in password for admin> Enable password [optional]: <optional to enter enable password> Do you wish to set the time? [y]: n Do you wish to configure wireless? [y]: <no it is easier to configure using software tools.> success: created keypair for ssh success: Type "save config" to save the configuration *WLAN-Controller# save config success: configuration saved
After you have saved the configuration, make sure that your PC is on the network as the MX with a valid IP address (static or DHCP is fine as long as it is in the same subnet). Use a Web browser to connect via SSL to the MX using the IP address you specified (i.e., type IP address). Once you connect to WebView, you will login with your admin user name and enable the password you set earlier: When you gain access, you are presented with the WebView screen. WebView has 3 main tabs: Configure, Monitor, and Maintain. The default view is Monitor. Click on Configure to set up the system. The configure menu gives you options for System, Wireless, and Authentication, with further options under each category. This note focuses on a simple setup and only covers the Wireless setup
Under the WIRELESS category, click on Services to create a wireless service profile. Any already created services will be displayed here. Click Create New Service
Fill out the Service Profile Basic Info page. The example configures no Authentication or Encryption. For details on authentication and encryption types, consult Trapeze Technical Documentation and the capabilities of your Vo- WiFi phone. Click Finish when you are done. In the navigation menu underneath WIRELESS, click on Access Points to add APs to the MX. You add access points in one of two ways. First, you can allow the MX to Auto-Discover any Trapeze Access Point on the network. From the Access Point management page, click on Auto-Configure
Check the enable box and click Apply. Trapeze Access Points will be auto-detected and added to the system. If you prefer more control over adding access points, then click on Add New AP from the Access Point tab. Give the AP a unique name, specify the model number, (connection method should always be distributed), and enter the serial number found on the back of the Access Point. Fingerprint is the RSA fingerprint (also located on back of the Access Point) but is not required. Click Next. Go through specific information for each radio card in the Access Point (most Trapeze Access Points have 2 radios). If you don t wish to change anything, you can click Next and then Finish
Physically connect the AP(s) to the network with Power over Ethernet (PoE). It is not required that Trapeze APs are directly connected to the MX. While it is not required, this configuration example assumes APs are on the same network (i.e., subnet) as the MX.
