2 WARNING: Only Covidien Personnel should execute this software upgrade. Before beginning to upgrade the PM10N, check both your PC and the unit. 1. Confirm that the upgrade utility is installed on your PC with driver software appropriate for your PC s operating system. 2. Confirm that your PC has sufficient power to complete the upgrade. If there is a risk of a power loss, run your PC from a secure AC power source. 3. Confirm that batteries are properly installed in the unit and the batteries are fully charged. 4. Confirm that all upgrade files are in the same folder on your PC and that they have not been changed since you received them. You must complete all the steps in the upgrade in the order specified. Do not interrupt the upgrade utility, shut off power to the PC, or unplug the USB cable to the unit during the upgrade. Failure to follow these instructions may cause damage to the PM10N. If the upgrade fails and you are no longer able to turn on the unit, then you will need to return it to Covidien for service.

5 What you need? PM10N Unit USB 2.0 A-Male to Mini-B cable PC PCSync Software & PM10N Upgrade files USB Driver SW 5

6 Download USB Driver SW Download USB driver SW from: Click on Download VCP under Windows XP/Server 2003 Vista/7/8/8.1 Open Folder CP210x Double Click on CP210xVCPInstaller_x64 to install the driver Click Extract All Click Extract Follow all prompts to install the SW 6

7 1. There will be five files to upgrade:. COVIDIEN NPSPMS PCSync_Oneclick_v105.exe, NPSPMS_Boot_ bin, NPSPMS_Main_ bin, NPSPMS_Main_1.05.BU.bin, and NPSPMS_Res_ res Copy and Paste files to a folder on your desktop Make sure that all 5 files are in the same folder 7

8 2. Obtain USB cable: A to mini B (full size USB on one end, mini USB on the other end). 3. Plug USB into computer and mini USB into PM10N unit. To plug into PM10N unit, slide cover on top of PM10N unit so that Sensor plug is covered and mini USB port is exposed. 4. The update will takes approximately 25 minutes. Make sure that battery level is enough to supply power during the update period. Close all other applications on your PC 8

9 PM10N Should be OFF to start 5. Power-on the PM10N unit in software upgrade mode by pressing and holding both the down-arrow and the power keys. When it powers up, the screen says +PM10N-BOOT Vx.x.xx at the top. The rest of the screen is blank. PRESS BOTH BUTTONS AT THE SAME TIME HOLD FOR SEVERAL SECONDS Release at the same time. 9

10 6. Check the Device Manager on your PC to determine which COM port the USB is using Click the Start Menu Right click on Computer Select Properties Select Device Manager 10

11 7. Launch PCSync software: COVIDIEN NPSPMS PCSync_Oneclick_v105.exe 8. Update Serial port box in PCSync as needed. 9. Click Connect button. When connected, the Update button will be active. 11

12 10.Click Update button. The upgrade of the software will then start. The upgrade will take approximately 25 minutes per unit. The PM10N will reboot software 3 times automatically during the upgrade WARNING: While the device is updating, do not touch the device. Do not try to unplug the device. Do not try to turn the device on/off Do not try to use the device buttons Do not remove the batteries Do not launch other SW on your PC WAIT until the Completed message is displayed on the PC. You will see the following screens on the PCSync tool 12

13 11.Once you see the Completed message, click the Disconnect button. 12.Turn the unit off and disconnect the USB cable. 13.Check that the SW has successfully uploaded by turning the unit on and looking at the splash screen during boot-up. The software version will be posted in the lower right corner of the screen. 14.Complete the SW Upgrade Form and record the serial number of the device that has been upgraded. Fax/ this form as directed. 15.If you have to program more than one unit, close PCSync and reopen between each unit. 13
