GENERAL INFORMATION... vi REGISTRATION FORM...vii PURPOSE/GOAL The goal of this program is to provide nurses and allied health personnel information on research, innovative clinical therapies and patient management systems currently emerging and under development to treat a broad spectrum of ophthalmic conditions. OBJECTIVES After attending this activity, the participants should be able to: 1. Discuss intravitreal injections. 2. Understand the pathogenesis, management and treatment of diabetic retinopathy. 3. Understand risks and predictive factors for Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD). 4. Identify the appearance of ocular melanoma and understand the basic approach to treatment. 5. Understand image guided cataract surgery. 6. Understand using the ORA system in patients with astigmatism and post refractive surgery corneas. 7. Understand Decemet s Stripping Automated Endothelial Keratoplasty (DSAEK) surgery. 8. Understand Prosthetic Replacement of the Ocular Surface Ecosystem (PROSE). 9. Identify evidence based practice in adult learners. 10. Discuss the use of compounded drugs in ophthalmology and evolving legislation. 11. Identify the importance of understanding diagnostics to document accurate services provided. ii.
