4 What is the Opportunity? The business you are about to be introduced to is known as Sports Arbitraging. Wikipedia defines an arbitrage as in economics and finance, arbitrage is the practice of taking advantage of a price difference between two or more markets: striking a combination of matching deals that capitalize upon the imbalance, the profit being the difference between the market prices. The internet has created an opportunity for Sports Arbitrageurs, to make a relatively good income, with a minimal initial investment, through Sports Arbitraging, making use of the online Bookmakers. A novice trader, who diligently follows the step by step guides contained in the following pages, and the subsequent modules, could expect, through making an approx 1000 investment, to yield a return of approx 5000 through Bonus Scalping (A technique used to scalp the bonuses given by almost every online Sports book), and thereafter, expect to generate returns of between 12% and 20% per month. The numbers quoted are 100% dependant on the effort invested both in learning, and trading. This is NOT a scheme where you invest, and expect these returns. These returns are purely dependant on you and your efforts. This is certainly not a get rich quick scheme, and you certainly will not get rich by becoming a Sports Arbitrageur. Sports Arbitrage Trading Sports arbitraging is a risk free way to make money from betting. You don't need to have an interest in sports or betting to take advantage of an arbitrage bet and make extra money online. Arbitrage is a trading technique that uses the difference in odds (price) to make instant profit. It has been used for a long time in financial markets, which can be difficult for non-professionals to access. What is sports arbitrage betting? An arbitrage bet in sports betting is an activity where you place bets on all possible outcomes of an event at odds that guarantee profit, whatever the result of the event will be. These bets are also known as surebets, surewins or just arbs. How it works? Normally, placing bets on all outcomes of an event at single bookie would result in guaranteed loss. However, if you take the best odds from different bookies, it is possible to make guaranteed profit. Most sports events have two possible outcomes (tennis, snooker, basketball,) or three possible outcomes (soccer-draw possible). In practice, arbitrage betting involves comparing odds at different bookmakers to find the best available odds, then calculating if those odds can make you a profit and in the end placing bets and collecting your profit.(in reality, there is brilliant software available, that finds the arbs for you) 5

6 Why arbitrage opportunities occur? The first reason why arbitrage opportunities occur is diversification between bookmakers. There are over 450 reputable bookies on the internet located in different countries around the world. They are all more familiar with teams from their own country and specialized in particular sports. When they estimate odds for events that happen on the other side of the world, or odds for sports they are not specialized in, they can make a mismatch in odds and create opportunity for arbitrage trading. That is why you can find different odds for the same event. The second reason is bookmaker protection. A bookie wants to protect himself against a potential loss if he accepts too much money on one side of an event. To create a balanced book he must offer odds that will attract people to bet on the other side, and in doing this, an arbitrage opportunity occurs. How much money can I make with sports arbitrage? Experience has shown that the range of your monthly profit is highly dependant on your capital. It is also dependant on the time and effort you invest. If you want to make 30,000 a month, you will have to turn arbing into a full-time job. It can also be done in your spare time to make decent extra cash. Even with minimum capital you can expect to make something between 10,000 and 20,000 in your first year. If you use more advanced techniques, will be able to double this amount. Assuming that you only make 5% per arb, and you can turn your money 4 times per month, you will achieve a return of over 20%. (This is a realistic target for a novice) 6

7 Why arbitrage trading? Arbitrage betting is a great way to make extra money because it doesn't involve any long term commitment or luck. Your profit is 100% risk free and you can stop at any time to collect your earnings from the bookmakers. Money made from arbitrage trading is easy, but not quick. You shouldn't expect to become a millionaire in 10-days. As said before, your success depends upon your level of commitment and work. A word of caution. Beware of companies requesting that you invest with them, and they will do the arbitraging for you. Common sense must prevail. Firstly, their claims are completely unrealistic. It is not possible to achieve 5% per day. Secondly, if they are so proficient at making money in huge quantities, why would they possibly need you as an investor? This business can be mastered in 3-6 months. Rather invest in your own capabilities. Bonus Scalping Most online bookmakers offer free bets and/or cash back bonuses for new accounts. When you receive a bonus from a bookmaker, his terms will normally require you to bet your deposit plus any bonus before you can withdraw the money. The basic method is to place a bet with the bookmaker and then eliminate all of the risk by placing an opposite bet with another bookmaker. The more care that you take over securing the best prices, the more profit you will make. The most important thing to determine upfront, is whether the bonus you receiving is a Cashable Bonus or a Free Bet. 7

What you MUST know before you begin Odds & Probabilities Introduction In gambling, the odds on display represent the amounts that the bookmaker will pay out on winning bets. In formulating his odds to display, the bookmaker will have included a small profit margin. This profit is known as the 'over-round' on the 'book' (the 'book' refers to the old-fashioned ledger in which wagers were recorded, and is the derivation of the term 'bookmaker'). In a 3-horse race for example, the true probabilities of each of the horses winning based on their relative abilities may be 50%, 40% and 10%. These are simply the bookmaker's odds multiplied by 100% for convenience. The total of these three percentages is 100%, thus representing a fair 'book'. The true odds against winning for each of the 10

11 three horses (represented here as decimal odds) are: 2, 2.5 and 10 respectively. In order to generate a profit on the wagers accepted by the bookmaker, he may decide to increase the values to 60%, 50% and 20% for the three horses, now representing odds against of 1.66, 2 and 5. These values now total 130%, meaning that the book has an overround of 30 (130% 100%). This value of 30 represents the amount of profit for the bookmaker if he accepts bets in the correct proportions on each of the horses. The art of bookmaking is that he will take in, for example, $130 in wagers and only pay $100 back (including stakes) no matter which horse wins. We only work with decimal odds Favored in continental Europe, Australia and Canada, decimal odds differ from fractional odds (representing odds as fractions e.g. 2/1 i.e. a two-to-one chance of winning) in that the bettor must first part with their stake in order to make a bet. The figure quoted is the winning amount that would be paid out to the bettor Therefore, the decimal odds of an outcome are equivalent to the decimal value of the fractional odds plus one (1). - Thus even odds 1/1 are quoted in decimal odds as 2. (1 + 1 = 2) - 4/1 fractional odds are quoted as 5 (4 + 1 = 5); while 1/4 odds are quoted as (1/4 or one quarter PLUS 1 = 1.25) This (decimal odds) is considered to be ideal, because the return to be paid out is simply the product of the odds for each outcome wagered on. Decimal odds are also favoured by betting exchanges because they are the easiest to work with for trading. 11

12 A good rule of thumb is that the higher the odds for a particular outcome, the lower the chance of that outcome happening, and vice versa. Using odds in your calculations: Firstly, make sure that you are very familiar with calculating the overound of any bet you need to place: Example Bookmaker 1: Decimal odds of 3 1 divided by 3 = 0.33 or 33.33% - That is a probability of 33% Bookmakers 2: Decimal odds on opposing team of divided by 1.42 = 0.7 or 70% - That is a probability of 70%. Total odds as percentages: 33 % + 70% = 103% The book is therefore overound by 3%. How do we find profitable trades? You were requested to register at Sports Arbitrage World. You are now required to get familiar with the trading software. Once that is done, you will be guided on how to use the software, to make significant profits using our methodology. 12

13 Setting up your Trader-zone account. Overview The following screen shot is what you will see when you log onto your Trader- Zone. Left hand column The screen is divided into 2 columns. 1. Window 1: Arb Matches. This window indicates to you in which events the software has identified that an arbitrage opportunity exists. 2. Windows 2A & 2B provide information which relates to middles. It is probably best to ignore this for now, until you have mastered the single 13

14 market arb. Many more exciting and profitable opportunities come about in Middles & Cross Market Arbitraging. 3. Window 3: Bonus Hunter. When you are setting up your filters in your software, described in detail further on, you will have an opportunity to indicate to the software where you have potential bonuses. This window indicates to you where you can profitably scalp the bonus. Right hand column There are 3 Windows (I have hidden the cross market window, as it is something you will come back to when your arbitraging skills are more sophisticated). 1. Window 1: Indicates to the user where the single market arb opportunities exist. 2. Window 2: Having clicked on an event in the single market arb window, the software will direct you, in the second window, on how and where to trade. This will be described in detail further on. Filters It is important that our filters are set correctly to assist the software to provide you with relevant information. You do not want to be flooded with arbitrage opportunities that are irrelevant, because you do not have an account opened or a bonus pending. Select the Filter tab button at the top of the page. 14

15 Bookmakers & Bonuses In this section, you are going to Block All the Bookmakers, and manually untick all the Bookmakers with whom you have opened an account. You are also going to tick all the Bookmakers, as if you have a bonus pending. Sports preference In this section you are going to filter out the Sports where we do not want to see arbitrage opportunities. This is personal, but for me, I tend to shy away from Sports that are scheduled way in advance. For example, I definitely chose tennis, because if an arb comes through on a game, I know it is current. Second round tennis matches cannot be scheduled until round 1 is complete. 15

16 Profit Here you set your profit parameters. Please leave it at ZERO Rules The only risks in Sports Arbitrage are: 1. Bookmaker s mistakes are reversible. If a Bookmaker makes an obvious mistake, he has the right to reverse the bet. You can avoid 16

17 being a victim of this, by keeping greed in check. Any arb over 8% requires serious consideration. 2. Different rules. Different Bookmakers have different rules, especially when it comes to retirement and non-finishes. Whilst this section may seem arbitrary, it is probably the MOST important. Retirement basically refers to instances when a game or match was not completed due to certain circumstances. In this case, bookies may differ in what kind of outcomes they assign to that event i.e. win, lose or non-event. This has implications for whether or not you receive your stake back or receive your winnings. Reliability The software defaults and you NEED to adjust these values, and ensure that you comply with your OWN guidelines. I personally have these settings at: 17
