1 BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (CSUF, CSULB, CPSUSLO, CSUSM, CHAPMAN UNIVERSITY, SDSU, UCB, UCI, UCR, USC) A Business Administration degree is designed to prepare students for entry into successful careers in business. Admission to many business programs is competitive. Students are strongly advised to complete all of the major preparation courses before transfer. Completion of major preparation and the highest possible GPA makes a student competitive. Listed below are Saddleback College (SC) courses that have been articulated with selected example universities, and represents lower-division preparation for the major. Articulation agreements can change without notice at any point during your time at Saddleback College. Please refer to the college catalogs and websites of the transfer schools you are considering, as well as the state-wide articulation database for CSU and UC campuses, for the most current information. CSU FULLERTON BACHELOR OF ARTS IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION Areas of concentration for the Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration include: Accounting; Business Economics; Entertainment & Tourism; Entrepreneurship; Finance; Management; Information Systems; Management Science; Marketing; Risk Management & Insurance; Joint emphasis in Accounting Finance and Joint emphasis in Accounting and Information Sytems.. CSUF ADVISORY: (1) All courses for the major must be completed with a grade of "C" or better; (2) The "credit/no credit" option may not be used for courses in the major. Lower-Division Core Requirements: ACCT 1A, 1B; BUS 104; ECON 4, 2; BUS 14; CIM1; MATH (11 or 3A) BACHELOR OF ARTS IN INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS Lower-Division Core Requirements: ACCT 1A, 1B; BUS 104; ECON 4, 2; BUS 14; CIM 1; MATH (11 or 3A) Foreign Language Requirement: Intermediate competency in one foreign language (Level 3) in Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, or Spanish is prerequisite to the required upper-division concentration courses. CSUF ADVISORY: (1) All courses for the major must be completed with a grade of C or better; (2) The credit/no credit option may not be used for courses in the major. These courses are under an articulation agreement that covers the 2010 and 2011 academic years. Courses cannot be taken for credit/no credit grading. For business status consideration, the lower-division pre-business core must be completed with a minimum GPA of 2.5. CHAPMAN UNIVERSITY BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ACCOUNTING NOTE: All courses in the major are to be taken for a letter grade. A minimum grade of C- is required for all lowerdivision core courses. This is an impacted program which requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.9. Students must complete courses in major preparation from three integrated areas: business administration, foreign language and regional/cultural studies. UC BERKELEY *Minimum Eligibility Requirements for Admission: 1. Complete all prerequisite courses for a letter grade of C- or higher no more than 5 years before starting the business major. If you repeated or have taken more than one course to fulfill a prerequisite you must use the first attempt to satisfy the requirement. If you received a C- or higher for your first attempt you should not repeat the prerequisite. 2. Complete the foreign language requirement. 3. Complete at least 60 UC-transferable semester units. NOTE: All of the required courses must be completed by the end of the spring term prior to starting at UC Berkeley s Haas School of Business. IGETC does not satisfy these requirements. 5 UC IRVINE BACHELOR OF ARTS IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION Lower-Division Preparation: ACCT 1A, ACCT 1B, MATH (3A and 3B), MATH 10, ECON (4 and 2) NOTE: Junior-level application with the highest grades overall (minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0) and who satisfactorily complete required lower-division major requirements will be given preference for admission. BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN BUSINESS INFORMATION MANAGEMENT Lower-Division Preparation: ACCT 1A, ACCT 1B, MATH (3A and 3B), MATH 26, ECON (4 and 2), CS 1A, 1D, 4A & 4B NOTE: Junior-level applicants who satisfactorily complete the following requirements will be given preference for admission: 1) one year of discrete mathematics if available; if not, first year calculus, 2)completion of one year of computer science courses. The coursework must contain at least one UC-transferable programming course involving the concepts of object-oriented programming (e.g. Java)or functional programming (e.g. in Scheme). Additional courses beyond the two courses required for admission are strongly recommended, particularly courses that focus on topics such as data structures, algorithms, software design, software engineering, human-computer interaction, and programming language concepts, if such courses are available. It is strongly recommended that transfer students enter UCI with knowledge of Java since it is used in many of the required courses. 3) Completion of courses equivalent to Economics 20A-B and Management 30A, 30B. UC RIVERSIDE Lower-Division Preparation: ACCT 1A, 1B; BUS 1;(CIM 1 or CS 1A);(ECON 2 and 4); MATH (8 and 11, or 3A), 10 Note: Saddleback s ACCT 1B is accepted in lieu of the UCR upper division course, BUS 108 Financial Evaluation and Managerial Analysis. Business Administration majors who choose to complete this course prior to transfer will not be required to take BUS 108, but will need to make up the upper division units after transfer. Special Advising Note: The Business Administration major is open to upper division students who have completed specific lower division major preparation course work, and all general education requirements. (IGETC is strongly recommended, as this pattern will complete all general education requirements.) To meet transfer selection criteria for the Business Administration major: 1) Complete community college courses equivalent to the following seven lower division UCR Business Administration major requirements: Bus 10; Bus 20; Econ 2; Econ 3; CS 8; Math 22 or 9A; Stat 48. 2) Attain a minimum GPA of 2.50 in the seven major preparation courses listed above, and also in your overall UC transferable GPA. 3) Complete IGETC or the UCR breadth pattern for the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (IGETC is recommended). 6 UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA Applications for admission to USC s Marshall School of Business can be submitted after completing at least three semesters of college work and 30 transferable units as well as the courses listed below. Admission is competitive; students with an overall GPA of 3.6 and grades of B or better in the courses required for admission will have an advantage in the admissions review process. Students who wish to transfer to USC as a Business major must complete the required courses listed below. *Required Lower-Division Courses: ECON 2, 4; ENG 1A, 1B; MATH (3A** or 11**) *In addition, students who successfully complete Saddleback s ACCT (1A and 1B) with a grade of "B" or better will be allowed to enroll in USC s BUAD 305x rather than BUAD 250AB after transfer. Pay particular attention to the upper-division requirements. Research the different options in Business Administration you may want to specialize in, and make sure the college/university you are transferring to offers it. Contact each college/university that you are interested in. Ask them to send you information about their Business Administration program; selection criteria, GPA requirements, and other pertinent admissions information. Also ask for information about their campus, services, housing, etc. Meet with college/university representatives when they visit Saddleback College.
