PEAK Dept. of Criminal Justice/MS 214 University of Nevada, Reno Reno, Nevada (775) Employment present: Professor, Department of Criminal Justice, University of Nevada, Reno; tenured, 1987, promoted to full professor, Duties in this department, with approximately 700 majors, include: research (30 authored or co- authored books - 28 criminal justice textbooks, two historical books, and more than 60 journal articles, monographs, and invited book chapters); teaching graduate/undergraduate courses (named "ʺTeacher of the Year"ʺ by UNR Honor Society); and university/community service. Specific information for all of the above is listed below , Chair, UNR Department of Criminal Justice : Coordinator and Assistant Professor, Wichita State University Administration of Justice Outreach Program for Southeast Kansas region (based at Pittsburg State University). Duties included administration of, and instruction in graduate and undergraduate programs with 75 majors; admissions; degree checks; administering oral exams; hiring adjunct faculty : Director, Department of Campus Police, Pittsburg State University. Duties included supervision of all sworn and non- sworn personnel responsible for law enforcement, security, and parking functions. 1976: Project Director, Technical Assistance Institute, Washburn University of Topeka. This federally- funded four- state program was the only of its kind in the nation, providing technical assistance to criminal justice personnel in the states of Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, and Nebraska : Criminal Justice Planner, Southeast Kansas Regional Planning Commission. A federally- funded, nine- county grant- writing and project development position, with over 100 grant applications resulting and more than two million dollars in funded projects : Police Officer, City of Pittsburg, Kansas. Duties included those of conventional municipal law enforcement, including supervisory assignments. Education Ph.D., University of Kansas, Major: Educational Policy and Administration; minor taken in KU School of Law (coursework by special arrangement).
