2 preparing the next generation In addition to ambition and dedication, today's teens also need a thorough command of the world of finance in order to make their dreams reality. Read on to learn more about this award-winning, free program. " made a difference in my life. The program showed me what I can do with my career and gave me the tools I need to do well in college." Jermaine Reed DuSable High School, Class of 06 Chicago State University Class of 06

3 overview For the past decade, has worked with hundreds of students in public, private and parochial schools all over Chicago, focusing specifically on providing financial literacy, equity market investing and small business development training. This school-based, after-school program is offered twice a year at participating schools during the fall and spring semesters. Students work closely with Chicago Urban League staff members with rich business backgrounds. In addition, participants also benefit from seminars and field trips conducted by representatives from corporate partners such as BP, Holland Capital Management, HSBC, Merrill Lynch, State Farm and the United Way. In 2007, received with the Mutual of America National Community Partnership Award. This honor goes to non-profit organizations who work with the private sector in order to impact the community. However, the true honor is watching alumni go on to college, enter the business world and continue in their service and success. " offered my son a way to learn about entrepreneurship and gave him help every step of the way, from mentorship to access to computers and the right software." Adrian Willis Father of Beau-Michael Willis Hales Franciscan Academy, Class of '09 Class of '08

In addition to building collaboration, teamwork and personal responsibility, students also hone their oral presentation and writing skills. curriculum helps students prepare for college by offering test-prep, college selection and funding workshops. Here are a few key statistics which demonstrate the impact of since its inception in 1999: 100% of alums graduated high school in four years. 90% of participants went on to attend four-year colleges. 80% of graduates who attended four-year colleges selected business-related majors. Kaidi McMillan directly applies his knowledge by teaching other students about entrepreneurship while attending Howard University. Johnnie Lovett, winner of the NFTE Chicago regional competition and national runner-up, attends college while managing his -developed urban-fashion business, Stay Fresh Online. "My favorite moment was when I learned that I owe it to myself to work hard to be the best person I can be. If another student is as good as I am, then I should just work 10 times harder. When my recording-studio team won the Business Plan Competition, I realized how hard work does pay off."
