2 Background to NATEP In support of the UK Aerospace Industrial Strategy for the Aerospace Sector, the Aerospace Growth Partnership (AGP) has developed a National Aerospace Technology Exploitation Programme (NATEP) aimed particularly at small and medium sized businesses to : help them develop their own innovative technologies Increase their ability to win new business with higher tier companies anywhere in the world

4 Background to NATEP NATEP 40m programme running until September 2017 Phased over five 6-monthly competitive calls Provides 3-way help Funding Collaboration Mentoring
5 Objectives of NATEP NATEP Grant funding : Up to 150K with typical duration of 18 months Use the proven ATEP model to deliver via the Regional Aerospace Alliances Deliver 100 technology projects in the UK aerospace supply chain Strengthen the technology development capabilities of 250 UK supply chain companies Create / sustain 1200 high value jobs in the UK aerospace supply chain Align aerospace OEMs, mid-caps, SMEs and HEIs / Catapults within the AGP Lifting Off Strategy and its implementation Deploy developed technologies in global aerospace platforms by 2020/25
6 The NATEP Model NATEP is based on the highly successful ATEP Projects run by the MAA Money & Mentoring Regional Engagement R & T Project Planning & Bidding Project Assessment & Approval Project Delivery Sustainability & Dissemination Help with Consortia Knowledge Transfer Workshops & Networking Help with Planning Collaboration Agreement 2 Stage Process Feedback on Full Opportunity to Present Monitoring of Project Progress Assistance with Claims Training on IP Protection Promotion Opportunities Press coverage Feedback on Outline Technology Roadmapping
7 Project Eligibility Supply chain technology partnership of at least 2 entities and preferably 3 or more and be industrially led Clear benefit technically and in creating or safeguarding jobs Clear path to commercial exploitation Objective to pull through new technology or process for use in current or future product or manufacturing process Fundamental research not suitable, but wide range of technology readiness levels (usually TRL4-7) considered Preferred development in line with national technology roadmaps and national strategy Preferred wider exploitation possibilities to enhance the advanced manufacturing sector In-kind support expected from larger companies. Companies outside the UK can be involved, particularly as end users but can not receive funding.

10 NATEP Calls - update Funding approved for 114 projects in calls 1-5 Covering over 16 different technology focusses (manufacturing, composites, software, electronics etc.) Projects involve over 200 companies, 20 universities and 3 catapult centres supported by 80 different Primes and Tier 1 companies Over 30 overseas end-users
