Protect your credit. Guard your identity. BENEFITS GUIDE
Welcome to the Identity Watch Program Congratulations! You have taken an important step in safeguarding your identity from the impact of theft. Attempting to resolve identity fraud issues on your own can be complicated and time consuming. If a wallet belonging to you or a family member is lost or stolen, the Identity Watch team will respond immediately by canceling all registered cards, assuming all risk and responsibility for fraudulent charges, monitoring your credit and providing valuable fraud resolution services. This Benefits Guide describes the extensive range of services available to you as an Identity Watch Member and explains how you can get the most from your coverage. Enjoy peace of mind knowing that, with the Canadian Tire Identity Watch program, you are well prepared. Identity Watch Benefits Summary: CARD PROTECTION page 3 DAILY FRAUD MONITORING page 5 IDENTITY HOTLINE page 7 FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE page 9 BONUS! Valuable Traveler Protection and Member Convenience Services provided to you at no extra charge (pages 11 & 13). 1
CARD PROTECTION Secure Card Registration It s important that you register all credit, debit, charge and ABM cards belonging to you and your family* right away. This helps your Service Representative protect you if your cards are lost or stolen and allows you to be eligible for financial assistance benefits. Any new cards you obtain can be added to your registration at no extra charge. CODE RED Card Cancelation (24/7) If your registered cards are lost or stolen, ONE CALL CANCELS THEM ALL! We will contact your card companies and ask them to cancel every registered card and begin the replacement process. In some cases, such as a lost debit card, you may need to request the replacement directly from your financial institution. After we notify your card companies, we will send you a confirmation letter and a new card registration form. When your new cards arrive, register them with us right away. CODE RED CANCELATION: (toll-free, 24/7) Fraud Deterrent Labels A Fraud Deterrent Label placed on the inside of your wallet lets would-be thieves know right away that your cards are protected. 4 labels are provided for you and your family. 3
DAILY FRAUD MONITORING Daily Credit Monitoring When you call the Identity Watch Hotline to report a lost or stolen wallet, you ll immediately be offered 6 months of credit monitoring at no extra charge! This multi-bureau service will monitor your credit bureau files every business day for potential fraudulent activities such as loan applications or new credit card accounts taken out in your name. As soon as there is any suspicious activity, a fraud alert notification will be sent to you the next business day. The faster identity theft is discovered, the less damage a thief can do to your finances, your reputation, and your credit worthiness. If you lose your wallet, credit monitoring for fraud is a vital step to help protect your good name and provide you with peace of mind. Credit Report & Credit Score When you call the Identity Watch Hotline to report lost or stolen cards you can request this valuable service. You will receive a copy of your credit report and confidential credit score from a Canadian credit bureau, at no extra charge. Additionally, about 3 months later, you will receive an updated credit report and score. This will alert you to any potential fraud. 5

Identity theft... a growing concern Guarding yourself against identity theft As one of the fastest growing crimes in the country 1, identity theft affects Canadians daily. Reported cases rose 63% in 2003 in North America 1. In fact, more than 1 in 10 Canadians has been a victim of identity theft, and 38% know someone who has been a victim 2. More than 1 in 10 Canadians has been a victim of identity theft It s a criminal activity that can be hard to detect, and the longer it goes undetected, the greater the damage to your finances, your good name, and your hard-earned credit rating. Identity theft can be devastating. As a victim, you could face a long and costly process of closing bad accounts, opening new ones, and repairing a damaged credit record. You may even be denied jobs and loans. No identity theft program can guarantee you ll never be a victim of identity fraud. However, if it should happen to you, the Identity Watch program can help you take action quickly and restore your good name. 1 Phonebusters, The Canadian Anti-fraud Call Centre (RCMP & OPP, 2003) 2 Ipsos Reid Study (Feb. 2005) You have made a smart decision by enroling in the Identity Watch program. It is an excellent way to guard your identity and protect your credit. However, you should always stay alert. The following steps will further minimize the risk of identity theft: Don t give out personal information on the phone, through the mail, or on the Internet unless you ve initiated the contact or are sure you know who you re dealing with. Promptly remove mail from your mailbox. If you re planning to be away from home and can t pick up your mail, call Canada Post to request a vacation hold. Get a shredder and destroy any unneeded charge receipts, copies of credit applications, insurance forms, cheques and bank statements. Shield your computer from viruses and spies by updating firewall and virus protection software. If you suspect you are a victim of identity fraud, contact the Identity Watch Hotline immediately at The sooner you report any irregularities, the sooner we can help prevent further damage
