7 If that isn t enough how many disciplines are likely to have labor shortages? CompTIA (April 2012): The shortage of skilled information technology (IT) workers is fast approaching a critical point where it could negatively impact industry growth and prosperity. CBS (February 2013): The technology jobs that are most likely to take more time to fill are in the developer and backend area. The knowledge base required to successfully execute these endeavors is pretty deep, and the competition from enterprises like Google, Facebook and others is very intense. American Medical News (March 2013) Evidence is mounting that the health information technology work force shortage predicted several years ago is happening and that it s affecting physician practices, even though many don t have in-house IT staff I.T. is a great choice!! rosy correct? So, everything is.well, not so fast
8 We still have issues to address: Even with all the positives, enrollment in I.T. fields has declined 40-50% since The different Information Technology roles create confusion with youth, parents, teachers, and guidance counselors. It is challenging for educators to adapt curriculums to the rapidly changing landscape of technologies and roles. Employers are not the best at clearly expressing their I.T. needs We struggle making employer to student connections Enter the
