1 Executive Order on Bachelor s Degree Programme in Global Nutrition and Health In pursuance of 22 in Act No. 207 of 31 March 2008 on Medium-cycle Higher Education Programmes, and according to decree no.882 of 8 August 2011, the following is endorsed: 1. (1) The purpose of the Bachelor s Degree in Global Nutrition and Health is to qualify the graduate through an interdisciplinary and intercultural perspective, to independently plan, implement and evaluate health promoting and disease preventing projects and tasks within global nutrition and health, both in national and international career settings, and in private or public enterprises and institutions. (2) The graduate must have knowledge, skills and competences as stated in appendix (1) The Bachelor s Degree Programme in Global Nutrition and Health is a full time education, equivalent to 210 ECTS credits. 60 ECTS credits equal the work of a full time student for one year. (2) The education entitles the graduate to use the title Professional Bachelor of Global Nutrition and Health. The English title is Bachelor of Global Nutrition and Health. (3) The English title of the education is Bachelor's Degree Programme in Global Nutrition and Health. 3. (1) The educational programme consists of: 1) Compulsory subjects corresponding to 80 ECTS, which apply to all students 2) Two fixed study programmes, each consisting of 70 ECTS, whereof the student must choose one a. Public Health Nutrition and Food Policy b. Lifestyle and Health Management 3) Internship with a total of 30 ECTS 4) Elective modules, which consist of 10 ECTS in total 5) A Bachelor project of 20 ECTS (2) The compulsory subjects confer 1(1), must be planned within: 1) Nutrition, diet and the body 2) Health promotion and disease prevention 3) The global burden of disease with focus on lifestyle diseases 4) Project management, communication and educational practice in an intercultural perspective 5) Globalization, lifestyle and living conditions 6) Sustainability, ethics and inequalities of health

2 (3) The study programme in Public Health Nutrition and Food Policy, confer 3 no2a, must be grounded in the following core areas: 1) Nutrition, health and food policies and - strategies 2) Food security and safety, market and consumption 3) Sustainable food systems and the environment 4) Public health nutrition 5) The double burden of disease (4) The study programme in Lifestyle and Health Management, confer 3 no2b, must be grounded in the following core areas: 1) Nutrition, health and dietary habits 2) Physical activity in relation to health promotion and disease prevention 3) Didactics and health education 4) Health behavior and facilitation of lifestyle changes 5) Psychological and physiological mechanisms in relation to nutrition and health 4. The rules applying to the Profession Bachelor educations are set forth in the Ministerial order on professional diploma programmes and professional bachelor programmes including rules on purpose, level, knowledge base, internship, content and planning, duration and structure, admission, lecturers' qualifications, tests and exams, curriculum and credit transfer. 5. (1) The Ministry of Education may approve an exemption from the rules in the Executive Order as part of a trial arrangement. In case of such trial arrangement, its duration and the method of reporting back to the Ministry must be stated concurrently. (2) The Ministry of Education may grant exemption to this Order in the case of exceptional circumstances. 6. (1) This Executive Order enters into force on 1 September 2011 and takes effect for students starting the programme on 1 September 2011 or later. (2) Concurrently, Executive Order No 1106 dated 9 November 2006, on Bachelor's Degree in Global Nutrition and Health is repealed. (3) The institution can plan interim arrangements, enabling the students, who follow the programme on previous terms, confer 6(2), to complete the programme according to the rules in this Order. 3 Appendix 1 Learning outcome objectives for the Education Bachelor s Degree Programme in Global Nutrition and Health Learning outcome objectives include the knowledge, skills and competencies that a Bachelor of Global Nutrition and Health should achieve during the education Knowledge The graduate from the Bachelor Degree Programme in Global Nutrition and Health has knowledge regarding: 1) Composition and functions of the human body in relation to nutrition and health 2) Physical, mental, social, cultural, ethical and legal aspects in relation to food and global nutrition and health 3) Concepts of health, inequalities and inequalities in health 4) Applied theories and methods and the practice of the profession as well as 5) Theory and methods of information search and dissemination of knowledge. The graduate from the study programme Public Health Nutrition and Food Policy also has knowledge regarding: 1) Food production, consumption patterns and market mechanisms and their impact on nutritional status, food security, food safety and the environment locally and globally 2) Food and nutrition policies as well as the different stakeholders and structures involved in ensuring both public health nutrition and sustainable solutions to health promotion and disease prevention as well as 3) Competency development through education, and public participation and knowledge sharing to meet nutrition and health related needs and seek solutions to problems The graduate from the study programme Lifestyle and Health Management also has knowledge regarding: 1) Contextual factors influence on lifestyle choices within nutrition, food and physical activity 2) Educational theory, health psychology, lifestyle change models and different approaches to facilitate behavioral changes including ethical considerations of power relations as well as 3) Interdisciplinary approaches to physical activity and impacts on health promotion and disease prevention Skills The graduate from the Bachelor s Degree Programme in Global Nutrition and Health is able to: 1) Identify relations between health risks and health strategies and analyse global nutrition and health problems in an interdisciplinary perspective

4 2) Assess nutritional status of individuals, groups and populations 3) Communicate, advocate and teach nutrition and health to various target groups 4) Interact professionally and empathically with people from various cultural, socioeconomical and educational backgrounds 5) Search for literature and critically collect, analyse and evaluate data in relation to global nutrition and health as well as 6) Apply research- and development based results and knowledge acquired within the profession The graduate from the study programme Public Health Nutrition and Food Policy is able to: 1) Identify, analyse and communicate health and nutritional related problems, challenges and solutions to relevant authorities and decision-makers 2) Disseminate knowledge to various target groups and mobilise population groups to take care of their own health and act on issues regarding the environment as well as 3) Plan projects and participate in capacity building and development of organisations and structures to coordinate and promote nutritional and food policy actions. The graduate from the study programme Lifestyle and Health Management is able to: 1) Motivate lifestyle changes and promote health and wellbeing considering culture, values, and rights, contextual factors and resources of individuals and groups 2) Assess status and habits of physical activity in order to promote physical and mental development and active living in different target groups as well as 3) Plan projects, teaching activities and interventions within food and nutrition, physical activity and mental health Competences The graduate from Global Nutrition and Health is able to: 1) Independently manage, implement, and evaluate nutrition and health interventions and projects from an interdisciplinary approach sensitive to cultural diversity in national as well as in international settings 2) Apply development-oriented and innovative solutions in relation to health promotion and disease prevention 3) Educate and support individuals, groups and communities health promotion competencies 4) Independently search for, critically evaluate and apply results from research and development work as well as participate in development work 5) Reflect on one s own and others practice and develop, apply and evaluate quality standards for the purpose of continuous professional development as well as 6) Identify own learning needs

5 Furthermore, the graduate from the study programme in Public Health Nutrition and Food Policy is able to: 1) Promote and sustain public knowledge and awareness of the impacts of healthy eating and conscious dietary choices 2) Advocate sustainable food and health policies in order to promote equitable access to safe and healthy food locally and globally as well as 3) Advice public and private actors as well as voluntary organizations in various sectors in food and nutrition policy matters Furthermore, the graduate from the study programme Lifestyle and Health Management is able to: 1) Manage, implement and evaluate teaching practice and learning processes within food and nutrition, physical activity and mental health 2) Support the competences of individuals and groups in order to sustain achieved lifestyle changes and prevent relapse and thereby obtain increased well-being and health as well as 3) Undertake and evaluate health promotion activities in public and private institutions and enterprises.
