1 Using the ievo fingerprint reader with How does it work? The ievo system stores the encoded fingerprint information within each reader. Once registered on the enrolment reader, the fingerprint data is sent to all the other ievo readers via its LAN connection. This data should be backed up using the ievo application. The software stores the fingerprint token number against a user record. In operation, the ievo reader confirms that the presented fingerprint matches its stored record and passes the token number to the ACU to request access. Setting up the ievo hardware Install the ievo readers in accordance with the manufacturers instructions. If a USB enrolment reader is installed, it will assume the enrolment function automatically. If you do not have a USB reader, the ievo reader that displays at the top of the list will be assigned the fingerprint enrolment function. The Device ID must be the same for all the readers. The LED display on the reader confirms the scanning of a valid fingerprint. Where the installer requires the LED's to show that access has been granted by, refer to the diagram in the LED wiring section. Setting up the software You require software v4.26 or later. Once and ievo software have been loaded, user screens will show an additional 'Add fingerprints' button. All enrolment administration must be done using the single allocated client workstation. It is not possible to administer fingerprint information from multiple workstations. 1

2 Adding a fingerprint with User records can be created using the 'New User' function on the toolbar. Once a user name has been entered, the 'Add fingerprint' button is then available to start the fingerprint enrolment process. Refer to: AN Importing and exporting user data < > The user record will display the token details under the fingerprint icon. A single fingerprint token is displayed in regardless of how many individual fingerprints are stored. If a user record already contains a fingerprint record, you will be invited to add additional fingerprint data to that same token record. If the same finger is scanned, the 'already assigned' error screen will display. If you delete the fingerprint token from a user record then all the fingerprints assigned to that user will also be deleted. 2

3 Click the 'Add fingerprint' button to display the 'Capture fingerprint' screen. The enrolment ievo reader will light up. You now have 7 seconds to place a finger on the scanner. The reader will beep once a good read has occured. Remove the finger and replace the same finger for a verification check. A successful fingerprint scan will be indicated on this screen. You may scan up to 10 fingerprints per user. Click the 'Add another fingerprint' button and repeat the process as required. (up to 8000 in total) Once completed, click on 'Save & Close' to assign these fingerprints to that user. If a scan is not completed during the 7 second period, the 'unassigned' error screen will display. You may start the process again. If the fingerprint already exists on the system, the 'already assigned' error screen will display. If the second scan does not match the first scan, the 'do not match' error screen will display. 3

4 Wiring the reader The ACU requires the data lines D0 and D1 and a 0V reference to be wired as follows. The ACU and ievo units are powered with their own 12V DC supplies. ievo Control Board ACU terminal +12V Red LED Amber LED Green LED 11 Green D0 Data/D0 12 White D1 Clock/D1 - NOT USED 13 Black Gnd 0V The ievo unit sends a 26 bit Wiegand number. The reader port must be configured as a Wiegand 26 bit reader as below. 4

5 LED wiring The LED display on the reader indicates the pass or fail of the fingerprint scan. If you only want to display a Green LED when access has been granted, you need to wire the LED lines as below. Connect the Green LED reader wire to the ACU Green LED terminal. Do NOT connect the Green LED reader wire to the ievo control. Connect the Red LED reader wire to the ACU Red LED terminal. Connect the Red LED reader wire to the ievo control. ievo Control ievo Reader ACU terminal +12V 7 Orange Orange Wire Red LED Amber LED Not Connected Green Wire Green LED Data/D0 Clock/D1 NOT USED 0V Additional settings The reader requires the ACU to control the LED's. To configure the ACU LED setting, open the server configuration utility and on the 'General' tab, check the 'Display reader LED's in OEM style' box.
