2 Counseling News In Process: Course selections cards were due Wednesday, March 30, to the counseling office. Students were to submit a signed Course Selection Card, stapled to a printout of the courses entered in Mi-Star. Juniors who took the PSAT should have registered with the College Board and Khan Academy to access standardized test practice materials. BHHS Summer School 2016 brochure is now available on the school website. The brochure includes information about BHHS summer school, Michigan virtual high school online registration, as well as, links to local high schools offering summer school courses. Seniors Reminder to turn in your senior achievements/scholarship form to Mrs. English. If you stated undecided on your school attending in fall, let Mrs. English know your school when you have committed.

I am currently servicing Bloomfield Hills schools through an agreement with Oakland Schools and your superintendent. I am working to prepare for the arrival of 5 International Exchange students to the district in the fall. Our company is seeking families that would be great host families for the students arriving in the fall. 5 DOG AIDE FOOD DRIVE Please donate Dog & Cat food (canned or dry) Bring your donations to Bloomfield Hill High School April 25 May 13, 2016 ~ Bins in the front lobby Dog Aide Mission - to provide emergency care to stray dogs of Detroit, community outreach to educate low-income owners about responsible dog ownership and to provide low cost veterinary care. Bins for collection outside the main office! Bloomfield Hills Rotary provides spring clean-up for the Mercy Place clinic. Their service to the community is enhanced by a beautiful outdoor appearance. Rotarians and friends pull weeds, spread new mulch, pick up sticks and provide a general beautification. Volunteers are invited to meet at Mercy Place with work clothes, gloves, a rake and/or shovel if available, at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 7. We typically finish before noon depending on the number of volunteers. Coffee, water and doughnuts are provided. Please Christine Tvaroha an RSVP at ctvaroha@bloomfieldtwp.org. Volunteer needed to pick up refreshments. Mercy Place is a free outpatient clinic affiliated with St. Joseph Mercy Oakland, which provides comprehensive health care, treatment and prevention to uninsured people who do not qualify for other health care alternatives. It is located in downtown Pontiac, and although most clients come from the Pontiac area, the clinic serves select, northern Oakland County zip codes. The free clinic is supported by volunteer physicians who donate their time and generous donors who endorse the Mercy mission of caring for all, regardless of their ability to pay. Mercy Place exemplifies our Mercy mission and values, which emphasize justice by working for the common good through advancing the health status of the community. The mission especially takes steps to ensure that the needs of the under-served are addressed. Prevention and education are two important components of Mercy Place. Through working with patients to encourage prevention, teaching them to manage their conditions and promoting wellness, Mercy Place helps to lower the cost of health care while enhancing the overall health of the community.

6 Princeton Review Free Practice Tests The Princeton Review has several free events in the very near future to help your students prepare for the ACT, SAT, and the college admissions process. With the number of college applicants increasing each year, this is a great chance to get ahead of the game and see whether their current scores will get them into the universities of their choice. Free Practice ACT Day: Saturday, May 7, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Locations: Ann Arbor, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, East Lansing, Grand Rapids, Grosse Pointe, Novi, and Rochester. Free Practice REVISED SAT Day: Saturday, May 14, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Locations: Ann Arbor, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, East Lansing, Grand Rapids, Grosse Pointe, Novi, and Rochester. Scores Back & Strategy Session: Saturday, May 21, from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Locations: Ann Arbor, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, East Lansing, Grand Rapids, Grosse Pointe, Novi, and Rochester. *At this event, you will receive a detailed, diagnostic score report of your results and learn strategies for each section on the exam. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend! The practice tests will be administered in a way that s very similar to how the real ACT and SAT are given. Why? Because students need to become familiar with the testing environment they ll face when taking the test when it counts. The Princeton Review runs free practice tests so that students can gain an understanding of the format of the ACT & SAT and experience sitting down early on a Saturday morning for a four-hour exam! Parents and students are welcome to attend the Scores Back and Strategy Session on May 21. Students will receive their scores, learn strategies for taking each test, and find out how to gain admission into a top-notch school or university of their choice. The individualized diagnostic score reports analyze students strengths and areas of opportunity. Students should walk away from the practice tests and Strategy Session with a feel for where they stand on the tests, where their scores will take them, and the confidence to improve their score and ace the exams.
