3 What exactly is a reverse line movement? For the house to gain the competitive edge and make money it s required they have action on both sides of a match up. Here s an example: Matchup: Team X vs Team Y Opening Line: Team X -4 If all the action is being laid on Team X the line will adjust accordingly to -4.5, -5, -6for Team X until the action starts balancing and bettors start betting on Team Y. It s a simple concept; the bookmaker adjusts the lines until the action is balanced, thus, always having the edge. When the house has an equal amount of action on both sides they re guaranteed to make money. So how can you tell where all the action is at? Follow the public betting trends. The bookmakers will not tell you why this happens but it s for several reasons. There s just an unknown imbalance and they attempt to cover their ass.
