1 College of Health and Human Development These scholarships have been established to assist students majoring in programs offered by the College of Health and Human Development. Note: The notification process does not include a notification to all applicants but only to the selected recipient(s) of the scholarship. The expected date of notification is the end of May. College of Health and Human Development-Scholarship Amount: $500 for undergraduate award and $500 for graduate award (subject to funding) Established by: This scholarship was established and funded by the College of Health and Human Development to recognize and honor students who have demonstrated strong academic performance and leadership to the College. Open to: This scholarship is open to continuing majors in the College of Health and Human Development who are pursuing an undergraduate or a graduate degree, and who have not previously received a College award. One award at each level after one semester of enrollment at Cal State Fullerton. Criteria: Full-Time Enrollment minimum 3.0 GPA College, Departmental or Community Service Participation or Leadership Financial Need answering all 7 questions and sign the certification; 2) Provide a résumé documenting leadership positions held within the College or the University (e.g., clubs, organizations, InterClub Council) and 3) If receiving Financial Aid, attach a copy of your award to the application. Submit your application to the College of Health & Human Development, EC 606. Application Deadline: March 11 Timothy S. Ray Scholarship Fund Amount: $500 (subject to funding) Established by: This scholarship is funded by the parents of Timothy S. Ray to honor his memory and to assist students who are preparing for a career in the helping professions. Open To: This scholarship is open to continuing full-time juniors and seniors majoring in Human Services or Child Development at Cal State Fullerton. Criteria: Scholastic achievement Financial need Community service activities

Application Deadline: March 11 Child and Adolescent Studies Dedication to Children, Adolescents, and/or Families Amount: $250 (subject to funding) Established by: The award was established by the Child and Adolescent Studies department to recognize an individual who has demonstrated dedication to improving the lives of children, adolescents, and /or families by his/her actions in accordance with knowledge derived from scientific research. Open to: This scholarship is open to current Child and Adolescent Development majors. Criteria: The award may be for either volunteer efforts or for dedication above the required level in paid employment. Open to: This scholarship is open to current Child and Adolescent Development majors. Criteria: Must be for international experiences during the time that the individual was a CHAD major and may be for either volunteer activities or dedication above the required level in international practicum course or study abroad experience.

Open to: This scholarship is open to current Child and Adolescent Development majors who have attained senior status by completing 90 units. McLaren Award for the Arts in Child Development Amount: $250 (subject to funding) Established by: This scholarship is funded by the McLaren Endownment to recognize the creative implementation of art instruction and/or production in working with children and youth. Criteria: Volunteer efforts Application Procedure: 1) Complete the application packet available in the mid-spring from the Department of Child and Adolescent Studies, EC-503, (657) Application Deadline: April 8 Health Science Kathryn T McCarty Scholarship Amount: $250 Established by: This scholarship was established by the Health Science Department in honor of benefactor Kay T. McCarty to honor scholastic achievement and outstanding research ability. Open to: graduate or undergraduates in the Health Science Department who are working in a research capacity. Criteria: 3.0 GPA undergraduate/ 3.2 GPA graduate Scholastic achievement Community/university service Research experience Promise questions, and sign the certification; 2) Attach a typed resume; and 3) Submit application materials to KHS-121, (657) Application Deadline: April 6 Marie Kalmantis Health Science Memorial Scholarship Amount: $250 Established by: This scholarship is established by the Health Science Department. The scholarship is in honor and memory of Marie Kalmantis, a former MPH graduate student who passed away. Open to: The scholarship is open to continuing Master of Public Health graduate students who have completed (or in the process of completing) at least 6 units toward their advanced degree. Criteria: 3.2 GPA scholastic achievement community and/or department service.

7 questions, and sign the certification; 2) Attach a typed resume; and 3) Submit application materials to KHS-121, (657) Application Deadline: April 6 Iran Navaie Community Service Scholarship Amount: $250 (2 awards) Established by: This scholarship is in honor of a beloved mother and grandmother, and is presented to an undergraduate student to provide financial assistance for academic excellence and outstanding leadership and community service qualities. Iran Navaie touched many in her life. She left a great impression that will linger with all who knew and loved her forever. She was an active member in the community and strongly believed in leadership, helping others, and giving back to the community. Additionally, she was a strong advocate for higher education. She contributed a portion of her income to help ill patients who were having financial difficulty, abused women, as well as providing food, clothes, and toys to orphan children. An example of her service was providing shelter to needy individuals. Open to: The scholarship is open to a Health Science major who exemplifies leadership through campus and/or community involvement. The applicant has helped a community envision the future, identify paths to success and carry out a vision. The applicant has exhibited integrity, collaboration, intellectual, emotional and social growth. Titan Shops scholarship funding is awarded to academic departments biannually. The award recognizes graduating Health Science majors who have demonstrated exemplary academic performance. Titan Shops scholarship funding is awarded to academic departments biannually. The award recognizes a Health Science major or Master of Public Health graduate student who has demonstrated solid academic performance, as well as service to the department and community. Open to: The award is open to health science majors and Master of Public Health students. The Human Services faculty determines the recipient. Open to: This scholarship is open to juniors in the Human Services Program. Criteria: Scholastic promise Financial need questions, and sign the certification; 2) Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), or have one on file, for establishing financial need; and 3) Submit the application to the Human Services Department, EC-405, (657) Application Deadline: March 7 Dr. Sandra Russell Group Leadership Award Amount: $100 (may vary with funding) Established by: This memorial scholarship is sponsored by the Human Services Association, Human Services Department and Dr. J. Michael Russell. Dr. Sandra Russell contributed to the training of group leaders from 1983 to 1993 and this scholarship was created in memory of what she inspired. Open to: This scholarship is open to current students who have been or wish to be group leaders for any of the Human Services 300 Character and Conflict classes. Criteria: CSUF GPA Financial need Career goals Campus/community activities questions, and sign the certification; 2) Include a statement which addresses: a) your financial need, b) CSUF GPA, c) Career interests/goals, d) Current campus or community activities related to human services, e) An assessment of your experience as a group leader; and 3) Submit application packet to Dr. J. 11 Application Deadline: March 7 Human Services Department Scholarship Amount: $500 Established by: This scholarship was established to recognize and honor students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance and dedication to the field of human services. Additional funds to this scholarship will at times be provided by Titan Shops. Open to: This scholarship is open to graduating seniors in the Human Services major who are pursuing an undergraduate degree. Criteria: Scholastic Achievement Professional Promise Community Service questions, and sign the certification; 2) Attach your typed resume; 3) Provide one letter of recommendation from CSUF faculty; and 4) Submit application materials to EC-405, (657) Application Deadline: March 7 Beverly and Arnold Miller University Scholarship in Gerontology Amount: $1,000 for students enrolled in 6-8 units and $1,500 for students in at least 9 units (6 to 8 awards) Established by: This scholarship is an endowed program established by Beverly and Arnold Miller to provide support to students who are pursuing careers in Gerontology. Awards are given annually with the opportunity to be renewed with demonstrated recipient accomplishments. Finalists may be asked to participate in an interview. Open to: This scholarship is open to upper division and graduate students with a declared minor, emphasis, or concentration in gerontology, older adult health/wellness or a related area. A student may only be awarded this scholarship once. Open to: This scholarship is open to returning undergraduate majors in the Kinesiology and Athletic Training majors who have completed at least 15 units in major course work. 14 Nomination Deadline: First Monday in March Nursing Maria Dolores Hernandez Fund Amount: $1,000 $5,000 (subject to funding) Established by: This scholarship is named for Maria Dolores Hernandez, who was a nursing leader in Orange County and an officer in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years. Open to: This scholarship is open to students who have been admitted to the CSUF Nursing Program. Stephanie passed away just after commencement in May Her BSN was awarded posthumously. Application Deadline: May 1 Military Science Roy Lopez Scholarship for Valor Amount: $2,500 (2 awards) Established by: This scholarship was endowed by Ms. Adriana Mraz and family established in memory of Roy Anthony Lopez, who was a cadet in the CSUF Titan Battalion. The scholarship will be awarded during the CSUF Army ROTC Ceremony in May of each year. Open to: This scholarship is open to all Military Science cadets of California State University Fullerton in their Junior or Senior year. Criteria: Full-Time Enrollment 3.0 GPA Financial Need/Hardship Must live the Army values and demonstrate exceptional Officership Community Service Activities Exemplary 500-word Essay questions, and sign the certification; 2) Write an essay (no more than 500 words) about what it means to you to become an Army Officer. Describe any personal, academic or physical hardship that you have

17 overcome on your way towards becoming an Army Officer. Discuss the process on how you conquered the situation and the factors that motivated you to move on. Write about the personal achievements, community service and examples of selfless service in helping your fellow cadets. Application Deadline: March 6 William McGarvey Scholarship Amount: $400 (4 awards) Established by: This scholarship was established by Mr. William McGarvey in honor of Ms. Carol Wise who have liked the ROTC cadets because of their politeness and respectfulness. The scholarship will be awarded during the CSUF Army ROTC Award Ceremony in May of each year. Open to: This scholarship is open to all Military Science Reserved Officer cadets of California State University Fullerton. Criteria: Full-Time Enrollment Ranked by peers and faculty according to the following: For Living the 7 Army Values, Outstanding Service to the Community, Spirit of Teamwork, Dedication to the CSUF Army ROTC Program Application Procedure: By Military Science Faculty nomination only Nomination Deadline: April 4 Army ROTC Scholarships Amount: Two and three year scholarship options based on the time remaining to complete your degree; 5 year engineering scholarships available. Full tuition or $10,000 a year for room and board, and tax free monthly stipend from $300 up to $500 a month; $1,200 a year book allowance. Established by: United States Army ROTC: Through classes and field training, Army ROTC provides you with the tools to become an Army Officer without interfering with your other classes.
