The Roots of Education, 17/04/1998) Open-ended play resources that are non prescriptive can be used in an imaginative way, with children using them to fit the play that they are working through at the time, rather than the play materials dictating the play. Many resources can be found in the natural world and others fairly cheaply. This publication will explore the use of natural materials in play and imagination and how this fosters a connection with the natural world. This publication will compliment the training and explore what open ended resources and block play are and how they can enhance the learning environment. EFFECTIVE ENGAGEMENT WITH PARENTS This intermediate course explores the importance of working in partnership with parents and supporting the home learning environment in raising outcomes for children. Practitioners will examine parental partnership research into the vital role of parents and families in children s learning, ensuring information sharing is a two way process, identify barriers to parental involvement and discuss practical solutions and strategies for developing effective, successful relationships PHONICS This introductory course to Phonics will equip participants with the skills, knowledge and confidence to support children s phonics development. Practitioners will be introduced to a range of play based activities to support phonics and explore the adult role in supporting these activities. 8 INCLUSIVE PRACTICE An intermediate level course aimed at all practitioners but in particular leadership roles. All children and adults have the right to be treated equally. However, in the United Kingdom many families and their children face inequality and exclusion. This course will explore your legal obligations under the Equality Act, EYFS and SEND Code of Practice in terms of inclusive practice and encourage you to reflect on your own practices, procedures and attitudes. Inclusive Practice - 19 (M) 24 (NM) This publication covers all you need to know about inclusive early years practice and has been fully updated with regards to the Equality Act The publication includes legal context and inspection, regulation, good practice ideas and now has new sections on looked after children, consulting with children, life stories and working with traveller families. It also contains sample nursery policy and procedure templates to support inclusive practice in your nursery. INCLUSIVE PLAY This course is aimed at all practitioners and will enable you to understand the terminology of inclusion especially relating to vulnerable children. You will receive practical ideas and information on choosing suitable play equipment and materials and how to support parents. NEW SSTEW Sustained Shared Thinking and Emotional Wellbeing This intermediate course will develop practitioners knowledge and understanding of the adult role in supporting children s learning and development using the SSTEW scale to support quality improvement and develop practice. Nicky Cunningham - Little Friends Day Nursery SAFEGUARDING AND CHILD PROTECTION TRAINING COURSES AND RESOURCES Suitable for all levels of staff BASIC CHILD PROTECTION AND SAFEGUARDING This introductory course supports the requirement for providers to train all staff to understand their safeguarding policy and procedures and ensure that all staff have up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding issues. This interactive course aims to raise the basic understanding of child protection with Early Years practitioners. ADVANCED SAFEGUARDING AND TRAIN THE TRAINER - Blended Learning This course is aimed at designated safeguarding leads or managers in settings who have already attended a basic level safeguarding course. This course is in two parts: Face-to-face designated lead training Additional online train the trainer modules to enable you to train all staff within your setting. (valid for 3 years) This programme enables you to bring your safeguarding training in-house with a knowledgeable safeguarding lead who can confidently deliver safeguarding training to your whole team. Through a combination of face-to-face, online learning, practitioners will understand their role as a safeguarding lead, be able to put robust policies in place and respond appropriately to any allegations. They will also be confident to deliver safeguarding training to all staff in the nursery. The EYFS states that providers must train all staff to understand their safeguarding policy and procedures and ensure that all staff have up to date knowledge of safeguarding issues and also to have a practitioner who is designated lead, this is reinforced in the Working Together to Safeguard Children As best practice the Advanced Safeguarding course should be refreshed every two years. COMING SOON ADVANCED SAFEGUARDING REFRESHER SAFEGUARDING AND CHILD PROTECTION (M) (NM) This guide will support you and your team with all aspects of safeguarding and child protection. All staff need to be trained and understand your safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures. This publication can support you and your team in this vital area, providing expert advice and top tips. STATUTORY GUIDANCE WORKING TOGETHER TO SAFEGUARD CHILDREN (March 2015) 7.50 This document replaces Working Together to Safeguard Children (2013) and links to relevant supplementary guidance that professionals should consider alongside this guidance. All relevant professionals should read and follow this guidance so that they can respond to individual children s needs appropriately. It aims to help professionals understand what they need to do, and what they can expect of one another, to safeguard children. It focuses on core legal requirements, making it clear what individuals and organisations should do to keep children safe. NEW BASIC CHILD PROTECTION 24 (M) 32 (NM) Providers must train all staff to understand their safeguarding policy and procedures and ensure that all staff have upto-date knowledge of safeguarding issues.
