15 January 7, 2016 Jeff Morris VP for Operations and Finance Coffeyville Community College 400 W. 11th Street Coffeyville, KS RE: Asbestos survey of 13 structures located at Coffeyville Community College, Coffeyville, KS. Mr. Morris: Per your request, we have completed an asbestos survey of 13 structures located at Coffeyville Community College. This survey is required for identification of asbestos containing materials in buildings that are to be renovated or demolished. Samples were taken of all accessible suspect asbestos containing materials throughout the facility. Our laboratory has completed analysis of the samples and the following is a summary of the asbestos materials identified throughout the facility: Friable Regulated Asbestos Materials Summary (>1% Asbestos) Approximately 34,000 sf of wall texture w/overspray located in building A Approximately 28,400 sf of ceiling texture w/overspray in 7 buildings Approximately 6 sf of asbestos paper insulation in building M Approximately 61 sf of asbestos linoleum in building A Approximately 420 sf of asbestos drywall/joint compound in building F Note: Category I Non-Friable This friable asbestos containing material must be removed prior to demolition or renovation activities. Building G has exterior asbestos caulking. Approximately 375 sf of floor tile & mastic in building A Approximately 310 sf of mastic in buildings A & D Approximately 2,200 sf of floor tile only in building C Note: This category I non-friable asbestos material does not need to be removed prior demolition or renovation activities unless it will be rendered friable as a result of these activities. PO Box 8200 Wichita, KS Fax
16 Page 2 Category II Non-Friable Approximately 7,750 sf of wall and ceiling plaster located in building M Approximately 2,450 sf of transite siding located on building M Approximately 20 windows with asbestos window glaze on building M Note: The above category II non-friable asbestos containing materials must be removed prior to demolition or renovation if it will be subjected to crushing, crumbling, pulverizing or otherwise rendered friable by demolition or renovation activities. Materials with <1% Asbestos Composite drywall and joint compound samples in buildings A, B, D, and J indicate asbestos content below the 1% regulatory level.* * As required by EPA, all above samples with asbestos content <1% have been point counted to determine exact percentage of asbestos present. This survey was performed by an EPA accredited inspector and sample analysis was performed by a NVLAP and AIHA accredited laboratory. AHERA asbestos inspections utilize nondestructive/non-invasive methods; therefore, Paradigm cannot guarantee all asbestos-containing materials were identified due to the possibility that there may be ACM hidden from sight by non- ACM or in inaccessible locations such as wall cavities, boiler interiors, air handling units, behind bulletin boards and signs etc. AHERA inspections also exclude the exterior building materials. All suspect exterior materials should be considered to contain asbestos. Paradigm recommends the Owner employ an asbestos abatement contractor, licensed in the State of Kansas, for abatement of any ACM required to be removed prior to renovation or demolition activities. Before asbestos abatement is undertaken, an asbestos abatement plan and notification should be prepared by the asbestos abatement contractor and submitted to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment for approval. This report has been prepared for exclusive use of our client, in accordance with generally accepted asbestos survey practices, and within the constraints of client s directives. No warranties, either expressed or implied, are intended or made. Conclusions drawn by others from results of this survey, as described in this report, should recognize the limitations of the survey methods. If you require additional services or have questions, please contact us. Best regards, Darin Helsel Inspector
