2 Dear Readers, To compete and win in today s legal market, you have to work hard and exercise sound judgment. Based on your votes, the companies and products highlighted in the following pages are excelling at keeping the industry moving forward and their clients in the winning column. Welcome to the 4th Annual Best of LegalTimes, a program designed to empower you, members of the D.C. area law community, to cast your votes for the service providers and law schools that have earned your respect as best in class. The Best of LegalTimes, published by the sales and marketing arm of The National Law Journal, summarizes the results of an online ballot that garnered nearly 1,500 reader votes. Over 500 businesses were listed on the official ballot and nearly100 additional businesses received votes via the write-in option. In all, your combined efforts helped us identify the top three vote-getters in 73 different business categories that span the spectrum of legal products and services. Readers were notified of the ballot through direct s, print advertising, social media updates, and online advertisements across ALM s network of websites, including Law.com and NLJ.com. The ballot encompassed the areas of Technology, Research, Litigation Consulting, Accounting, Banking, Insurance, Financial Services, Litigation Support, Education, Law Firm Marketing & Communications, ADR & Mediation, and Recruiting & Staffing. Where the emphasis was on perceived product attributes and benefits, we presented product-specific voting options; where the categories focused on perceived vendor attributes, we presented corporate entities as voting options. Please note, we review and qualify all votes to ensure they were cast by legitimate end-users from the Washington, D.C. area legal community--attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, law school students, etc. Any votes cast outside of this qualified universe of potential voters were not counted in the final results.
