Use of Estimates in the Preparation of the Financial Statements The preparation of financial statements in conformity with Statutory Accounting Principles requires management to make estimates and assumptions that affect the reported amounts of assets and liabilities. It also requires disclosure of contingent assets and liabilities at the date of the financial statements and the reported amounts of revenue and expenses during the period. Actual results could differ from those estimates. C. Accounting Policy Life premiums are recognized as income over the premium-paying period of the related policies.
