This term also refers to primary snoring, upper airway resistance syndrome and obstructive hypoventilation. Only the last decades the high prevalence of this disease has been realized in childhood. Since that time, there has been a great interest in pathogenesis of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, which is different from that found in adults. The most common cause of obstructive sleep apnea in children remains adenotonsillar hypertrophy and the diagnostic test of choice is overnight polysomnography. Consequences that seem to be associated with the syndrome include cardiopulmonary disease, neurocognitive abnormalities, behavioral problems and metabolic disorders. The best treatment is early diagnosis. А -: appleаp, АPappleАP appleаp, АPАPАPА apple, appleаp, А АPfi. Key words: apnea, children, obstructive apnea, sleep disorders, snoring.
