1 Engage Inform Entertain Pansensory aims to be at the forefront of content creation for VR - a new medium that promises to be as disruptive in the short term and as ubiquitous in the long term as the Internet and the smartphone.
2 Hands up who thinks VR is going to be a big deal: Why? Because Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality add another dimension to all the things we watch, play and do on flat screens and mobile devices now. This revolution will turn all human-computer interaction on its head, by turning it on, on your head.
3 With several major tech companies building virtual reality systems, there is a growing early adopter customer base that is already crying out for content. By Q there will be at least four mainstream VR platforms available to the consumer. And, like users of every other digital media platform before this one, VR users will have an insatiable appetite for content.
4 Meanwhile, advertising agencies, film and television studios, record labels and other creative IP holders are eager to leverage this new medium to connect to their audiences in a more intimate, immersive way. But they lack the know-how and the technology to create the content themselves and there are currently only a handful of companies in the world that boast expertise in that area.
5 Our directors represent a combined total of over 40 years experience in the feature film visual effects industry and have had a hand in many of the biggest film franchises of all time. We've been leaders in the creative and technical advancement of that industry and as such are natural candidates to pioneer this new field of entertainment, which shares so much in common.
6 Ollie Rankin, CEO/CCO With 16 years of visual effects experience, including 26 movies and a VES award nomination, a background in programming and a penchant for storytelling, comedy, music and photography, Ollie is the visionary in front and the creative force behind Pansensory. Jason Dowdeswell, Director Having headed up the Vancouver studios of Sony Pictures Imageworks, Digital Domain and Image Engine, Jason has a wealth of experience in the logistics of building, running and scaling creative enterprises in Vancouver. Greg Herbert, Director As CFO of Image Engine, Greg has presided over the books of a creative industry success story, widely recognized for their outstanding work on films like Jurassic World, Elysium and District 9. Greg was also instrumental in a 2015 merger with UK-based Cinesite.
7 We ve developed custom software that interprets and transmits smartphone gestures wirelessly, making for a particularly intuitive way to interact with VR and AR worlds. This unique technology serves to demystify VR for first time users. It has endless possible applications, such as browsing galleries, navigating in three dimensions and interacting with virtual objects and menus.
8 PROPERTY HOLDERS CAPTIVE AUDIENCE We can satisfy consumer demand for content at the same time as fulfilling the needs of brands and IP holders looking to find new ways to reach and engage with audiences. All the while building our own brand and marketing our unique insights into the evolution of storytelling made possible by VR.
9 GAMES $60B FILM $90B TELEVISION $220B It's difficult to predict the future size of the VR market at this stage, but it will take a big bite out of each of these four existing markets. ADVERTISING $590B It's clear that we should be targeting the advertising industry to begin with. Not just for its scale, but also its appetite for novelty and innovation.
10 In much the same way that the Internet and smartphone have had a huge impact on our social, shopping and media consumption habits over the past decade, we anticipate VR making significant inroads into those same sectors over the next 5-10 years.
11 Based on our knowledge of the entertainment media industries, we predict that typical VR commissions will range in budget from USD $250k-$5M at gross margins ranging from 15-25%. We believe that as the market for paid VR entertainment grows, it will soon become viable and eventually very lucrative to create our own IP rather than continuing simply to produce content for others. Long term that is where we want to position ourselves.
12 FRAMED a live action first person interactive virtual reality experience from director Ollie Rankin We are seeking half a million dollars (USD$500,000) in seed capital in order to grow our creative team, produce our first (and one of the first) truly interactive VR short and to position ourselves to start producing high end content under commission from advertising agencies, as well as music labels, television and film studios. Our expectation is that by Q3 of 2016 we will be presenting our film at festivals and working on our first large paid project.
