2 THE CONTEXT The objective of the African Cristal Festival, organized by Cristal Events, is to celebrate the best of advertising creativity and communications over the African continent. PURPOSE - Encourage creativity, - Award best TV commercials every year, - Promote agencies creativity. THE JURY - The Jury is made of regional creative directors and managing directors of the best African and international agencies - Every African region has a representative in the Jury, - Members of the Jury can t vote for their own campaigns. JUDGING CRITERIAS 1. The creative idea 2. Quality of execution ELIGIBILITY - The competition is opened to all advertising and communication agencies, production companies and advertisers in Africa. All submitted entries implemented between September 1 st 2015 and September 15 th 2016 are eligible to compete in the African Cristal Awards. - Only one part can submit an entry. Thus, the agency, the production company and the advertiser need to agree in advance. If the same entry is submitted twice, only the first entry will be accepted. - All entries must have been made for a real client. The client must have paid for all or the majority of the entered submission (except for charity/public interest). - The organization may contact the advertiser related to any submission at the request of the jury at any time during the judging process in order to ask questions about the campaign. 2

3 CATEGORIES An entry or campaign may be submitted in more than one category. A. Product categories 1. Food / Drink 2. Automotive / Motorbike 3. Insurance / Banking / Financial service 4. Telecommunications 5. NGO / Great cause / Charity/Public Interest 6. Leisure / Entertainment / Sport / Tourism / Transport 7. Retail store (supermarket, fast food, department store ) 8. Media (Television, Press, Radio ) 9. Home (Furnishing, decoration, cleaning, equipment) 10. Clothing / Accessories / Textile 11. Electronic product (television, mobile phones, DVD, CD and MP3 players, cameras ) 12. Beauty / Hygiene / Health (cosmetics, make-up, shampoo, medicine ) 13. Miscellaneous (tobacco, pet food ) B. Other categories 1. African Culture (original ideas through cultural specificities) 2. Viral Films 3. Corporate (social and health care campaign, financial campaign, HR campaign ) 4. Environment and Sustainable Development 5. Craft NB: Self-promotion campaigns cannot be entered in the competition. The category NGO / Great cause / Charity cannot compete for the Film Grand Cristal. The Festival reserves the right to modify a category designation if needed, at any time. 3

4 ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Films have to be uploaded online at Format:.mov H p (1920x1080) file (indicate the length) no logo of the agency is permitted! Entries should be submitted in English or in a version with English subtitles (mandatory). Only information mentioned on the registration form will be used. Therefore, it is very important that the form is properly and fully completed. The information will be published in the festival s communication material: catalogue, press, website etc The material uploaded by participants will be screened to the jury at the judging sessions and at the Award ceremony. Please make sure the quality is adapted to the festival s requested standards. AWARDS Several Cristals will be distributed: 1. The Film Grand Cristal 2. A Cristal per category (equivalent of gold) 3. Sapphires (equivalent of silver) 4. Emeralds (equivalent of bronze) The winning Cristals will compete for the Advertisers Grand Cristal. This Grand Cristal will be awarded by a jury made of regional advertisers only. The Film Grand Cristal will be eligible for the Festival Grand Cristal. Therefore, the Jury will give a Cristal per African regions: North Africa, West Africa (French speaking), West Africa (English speaking), East/Central Africa and Southern Africa, only if he decides it is deserved by the outstanding quality of the global entered works and in order to highlight the advertising dynamism of these regional industries. BENEFIT FROM A DOUBLE ENTRY & GET A WORLDWIDE RECOGNITION By entering the African Cristal Awards, you get the lead not just the continent but also the world. Indeed, all the top winning works in each category will be automatically entered, at no cost, into the Global Cristal Festival held on December 2016 in Courchevel, French Alps. 4

5 VALIDATION & PAYMENT Administration fees 50 exc. VAT (to be paid once by competition and company) Registration fees Each submitted element is considered as a separate submission. A 3 films campaign will be charged as 3 entries. 150 exc. VAT for each submission Means of payment: - You can pay by credit card (CB/Visa/MasterCard/American Express) online: - You can also pay by bank transfer: Account name: Cristal Events 22, rue Durand Benech Fontenay aux Roses - France Bank: BNP Paribas 15, rue Gabriel Péri Châtillon - France IBAN: FR BIC: BNPAFRPPXXX - Entries cannot be cancelled or removed from the Festival in any way after September 4 th. - You should pay all costs or your entries will be turned down - Bank fees are at the agency, production company, advertisers charge - All registrations made until the end of the process (validation to payment) will be considered as due and the agency will receive an invoice corresponding to the finalized entries - Once the order validated, each modification (credits, category...) will generate additional costs. - Trophies to be delivered (UPS, DHL...) will be at the agency s charge.
