4 January 4, 2016 CONGRESSIONAL RECORD Extensions o Remarks EXTENSIONS OF REMARKS E1 SSpencer on DSK4SPTVN1PROD with REMARKS HONORING JENNIFER STONE HON. MICHELLE LUJAN GRISHAM OF NEW MEXICO IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES Monday, January 4, 2016 Ms. MICHELLE LUJAN GRISHAM o New Mexico. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honor a constituent and long-time colleague, Jennier Stone. Jennier represents the best o our great State o New Mexico: she is a loving parent, a loyal riend to so many, a brilliant, hardworking and talented proessional, and a dedicated member o her community. She is also my dear riend. Jennier was born in Los Alamos, New Mexico on November 1, 1965, to Peggy and Sid Pinkston. In 1985, she was the Grand Worthy Advisor o the State o New Mexico or the Order o Rainbow or Girls, an organization dedicated to empowering young women with leadership, public speaking, project management, teamwork and interpersonal communication skills. Jennier was always a brilliant student. In 1983, she graduated a year early rom Los Alamos High School and then enrolled in the University o New Mexico where she met her uture husband, Chip Stone, and subsequently graduated in While an undergraduate, Jennier worked ull time rom 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. at the Rodey Law Firm, one o Albuquerque s oldest and most prestigious irms. Somehow, Jennier ound the energy to work until midnight, go home, do her homework, sleep a little, and then wake up resh or another day while maintaining a ull course load. Ater graduating, she attended the University o New Mexico School o Law, and on the irst day o her third year, her son Jordan was born. During that third year o law school, in addition to being a new mother, Jennier was also the Lead Articles Editor or the New Mexico Law Review rom In 1991, Jennier graduated cum laude, Order o the Coi, and was the University s recipient o the Outstanding Clinical Law Student Award. Following graduation, her impressive legal career included being: an associate at the Rodey Law Firm (where she had previously clerked during the summers while she attended law school), an Assistant Attorney General or the State o New Mexico, in-house counsel or the Sun Healthcare Group, a partner at the Miller Law Firm, and General Counsel and Deputy Cabinet Secretary or the New Mexico Department o Health. She then returned to her beloved Rodey Law Firm, where she remains a partner and shareholder. I met Jennier through our children and their schools and our amilies have been close ever since. I even had the opportunity to work proessionally with Jennier when she was General Counsel and Deputy Cabinet Secretary or the New Mexico Department o Health while I was serving as the Secretary o the Department. I already knew that Jennier was a gited legal writer and researcher, but she proved to be the best teammate I could have ever asked or. Jennier managed all litigation brought against the Department and provided me with stellar advice and penetrating wisdom on how to better operate the Department. Her intellect, proessionalism, and passion enabled us to help many New Mexicans. Jennier is listed in The Best Lawyers in America and Southwest Super Lawyers or her expertise and experience in healthcare law. In 2009, Jennier was selected by New Mexico Business Weekly as one o New Mexico s Best o the Bar. Jennier has had an outstanding legal career and New Mexico is ortunate to have her. Chip and Jennier married on May 30, 1987, and have two wonderul children. Jordan, 25, lives and works in Denver, and Caitlin is a 22- year-old senior at the New Mexico Institute o Mining and Technology. On December 15, 2015, Caitlin gave birth to Jennier and Chip s irst grandchild, a beautiul girl named Catarina Elyse Martinez. Jennier has many hobbies. She took up knitting in middle school and became a world class knitter, making beautiul creations or riends and amily. Jennier and Chip traveled requently to Grateul Dead concerts prior to Jerry Garcia s death in 1995, and have collected Grateul Dead and rock poster art or decades. In recent years, Jennier and Chip have been devoted to indoor and outdoor rock climbing. Jennier has remained steadast in her determination to bring good things to our community despite the burdens o living with ovarian cancer. Even while undergoing cancer treatments, Jennier participated in the HERA Women s Cancer Foundation s Climb4Lie in Boulder, Colorado, to raise unds or research to eliminate ovarian cancer. That year, Jennier was the only participant who climbed outdoors in Boulder Canyon, despite active cancer treatment. This came as no surprise to me as she is one o the most determined and energetic people I know. Jennier is one o my oldest and dearest riends. It has been diicult to watch such a close riend, so loving a mother, such a skilled and hard-working colleague, and such a dedicated member o our community struggle with this terrible disease. I cherish our riendship and all o the wonderul contributions she has made to our state. HONORING CLIFF KOROLL HON. MIKE QUIGLEY OF ILLINOIS IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES Monday, January 4, 2016 Mr. QUIGLEY. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize Cli Koroll, a Chicago Blackhawks legend. Cli Koroll is a Canadian Ukrainian born in Canora, Saskatchewan, Canada. He played his youth hockey or the Saskatoon Wesleys and helped them win a Provincial Championship. Cli continued his education with his childhood riend Keith Magnuson at the University o Denver. Both players were standouts and were key actors in winning the NCAA Championship or Denver University. Both Cli Koroll and Keith Magnuson signed with the Blackhawks in Cli played 11 seasons in the NHL, all with the Chicago Blackhawks and became their Assistant Coach or six seasons. I believe Cli to be one o the proudest players to wear the Blackhawks sweater. Cli is the current President o the Chicago Blackhawks Alumni Association, a group o retired Blackhawks players that give back to the Chicago community. Throughout the hard work and dedication o the late President, Keith Magnuson, and other key individuals, the Chicago Blackhawks Alumni Association has become a huge success, giving over one million dollars in college scholarships to the most deserving high school hockey players in Illinois. The group is also very supportive o the Ronald McDonald House. Cli has also been supportive to the Chicago Legal Clinic, which has a thirty-our year history o providing legal services to the poor and elderly in the Chicago area. While serving a host o legal needs, the Clinic ocuses on vulnerable populations, such as immigrants, the disabled, victims o domestic violence, those acing oreclosure, children in the midst o divorce, consumers with serious debt issues, and those conronting urban environmental problems. Cli has been inducted into the Saskatchewan Sports Hall o Fame, Saskatoon Sports Hall o Fame, The Chicago Sports Hall o Fame, Illinois Amateur Hockey Hall o Fame, the University o Denver Hall o Fame, and the Ukrainian National Museum in Chicago. I ask my colleagues to join me in honoring and celebrating his work and accomplishments.
