Prayer Ministry Members of the Church s Prayer Ministry Team are available in the Prayer Chapel following morning worship for anyone who would like people to pray for them. Prayer is available to everyone whether you are a church member or not. Our prayer ministry team are trained individuals under the authority of our ministers and all matters are treated in strictest confidence. Today Launch of our Summer Series The evening series is about people whom Jesus met. That why it s called Close Encounters. Sunday Night Live starts at 7.00pm and Seth Wright will introduce the series Close Encounters from Luke Sunday 6th July The morning series is looking at the book of psalms. We have given it the title Songs in the key of Life because the psalms touch on every area of human experience.

4 Sunday Morning Worship starts at 11.00am and Michael Anderson will continue with the series Songs in the Key of Life from Psalm 43. The evening series is about people whom Jesus met. That why it s called Close Encounters. Sunday Night Live starts at 7.00pm and Gary McDowell will continue with the series Close Encounters from John PRAYERS FOR OTHERS Prayer for people This week please pray for those in our congregation family who are in hospital, or in need of prayer. Especially Robert, Diana, Bob, Gordon, Min, Margery, Eileen, Patricia, Barbara, Jennifer, Kathleen, Dakota, Vivien and Miriam. PRAYER FOR OTHERS Prayer for Mission Ireland and Mission Overseas MISSION IRELAND Arklow Presbyterian Church Pray for: Pray for the Kirk Session, Committee and Congregation and Vacancy Convener (Rev Dr Kathryn Meyer), `and that the congregation will be able to move swiftly to a position of being granted leave to call a new minister. Pray for all the churches that will be vacant by the end of June along the south east coast of Ireland Bray, Blackrock, Greystones and Arklow. Pray for great wisdom for BMI, Union Commission and the Dublin and Munster Presbytery as decisions are made about these churches in granting leave to call. MISSION OVERSEAS BRAZIL The hosting of the Football World Cup has created many evangelistic opportunities for Christians in Brazil to share the Good News of Jesus. Naomi Keefe who works with two congregations in Olinda in north-east Brazil, (Camocim and Peixinhos), was recently involved in a very encouraging weekend of training people in Camocim on various evangelistic strategies, including that of football and the World Cup. The following week the team in Camocim, put into practice what they had learnt, as they engaged in outreach in schools and with a

5 group of around 60 young teenagers from the council youth programme. They had a really encouraging response and are now following up 15 young people who confessed Jesus Christ as Lord of their lives! The Good News Club in Peixinhos had a walk through the favela wearing their Jesus football shirts, which they had designed and painted and also carrying a banner. All 45 children aged 3 years to 14 year participated enthusiastically. They each handed out bookmarkers which had To Wear the shirt is to have your heart beating for Jesus on them, as a simple way of reaching out to people with the Good News of Jesus. Pray for Christians throughout Brazil that they will maximise the opportunities they have to share the Good News of Jesus during Brazil s hosting of the football World Cup. Give thanks for those who committed their lives to Christ following the recent outreach by the Camocim team, and pray for the discipleship of these young Christians. Give thanks for the recent opportunity Naomi had to use the Sunday morning service as a training session with the congregation of Peixinhos on using the World Cup as an opportunity to reach out to the people in their neighbourhood. Continue to pray for Naomi s health as she tries to build up her strength again before travelling to Ireland in late July for home assignment. PAKISTAN Ron and Hilary McCartney have been on home assignment for the past few months and are almost finished their deputation engagements, they write, We are encouraged and refreshed by meeting various congregations, fellowship groups and friendship clubs. Thank you for your prayers and support. Students at Forman Christian College (FCC) in Lahore where they teach, sat their examinations at the end of May. Some have finished their degrees and their time at the College has come to an end, and others are due back after the summer break to continue their studies. Both Christian and Muslim students study together at the College, and it is hoped that just as they have learnt to understand and respect each other at the College, that they will also continue to show understanding and respect to the other community throughout their lives. Ron and Hilary are planning to return to Pakistan in August for the start of the new academic year; Hilary to teach Statistics and Christian Studies; and Ron to teach Mathematics. Pray that Christian and Muslim students from the College will continue to have understanding and respect for one another throughout their lives. Pray that Ron and Hilary will enjoy the next few weeks with family and friends, and pray for their preparations to return to FCC in August. Pray that the remaining steps in their visa application process will go smoothly, and that they will receive their visas in good time.

6 CHURCH NOTICES Wednesday 2nd July The Wednesday Table Tennis Group continue to meet each week 10am- 12noon. New members will be made most welcome. The Wednesday Club meet from 10.15am in the Parlour and will have their monthly lunch at 12.15pm. Mizen to Malin Charity Cycle Challenge 430 miles (8-11 July, 2014) During July this year, Neale Agnew our Director of Music is planning, along with a group of friends, to cycle the length of Ireland, from Mizen to Malin Head (430 miles uphill!) over 4 days in July. It is hoped that the cycle will generate funds for 3 local charities:- Friends of Cancer Centre, Belfast, Clic Sargent for children with cancer & the Motor Neuron Disease Society. The Small group Co-Ordinators are Peter and Linda Little. LITTLE FISHES Little Fishes is in the parlour. It is a place for parents to leave their babies and toddlers during the church service. There are supervised activities, toys and a snack time. There is also a designated baby area with a protective screen with a crèche leader supervising. The co-ordinator is Lynne Guiney. The trip will depart on Saturday 27th December for 7 nights and will return on Saturday 3rd January Accommodation will be on a half-board basis in the 3" Hotel Irma, just a short distance from the slopes. This trip is open to all ages and abilities and there are activities available for non skiers.
