1 Understanding Banners The script supports both simple javascript type banners (called google adsense) and image banners (called kaon ads) on the site. The Kaon Ads type banner is a normal image banner of different sizes. These banners rotate equally on their given spot. You can upload a banner from admin panel, setup its duration and its landing link. The banner will rotate with other banners. The Google Adsense type banner allows you to enter any HTML/Javascript banner code from a ad network (like google adsense, adbrite). The system dumps this HTML/Javascript code entered in the admin panel to the specified location on the public pages. In Google Adsense Type ads, rotation is not performed by script. BUT instead rotation should be handled by the adcode itself provided from the ad network. Example google adsense code, you just add it to your HTML pages and ads are rotated automatically by it. The price comparison script comes preconfigured with kaon ad type of medium, rectangular and small banner sizes already in place. The rectangular size banners are displayed on the product s price comparison page on the right hand side. See screenshot above. Rectangular Kaon Ad is displayed on the right hand. Page 1

REMEMBER: You can add more ad spots or change the ad type from Kaon Ads to Google in the templates by adding or editing the getbanner() tag as explained on following link: Page 2

3 Creating Kaon Ads Banner In order to create Kaon Ads, simple select the Kaon Ads radio button and the form will look like the screenshot below. The textfields of the screen are explained in detail below: Banner: Banner Type: Banner Title: Link Url: Here you can provide the source of banner image. There are two options: 1. URL: the url of an online available banner image. Possibly uploaded at some website. 2. Upload: you can upload the banner image from your computer. These are the sizes of banner images from which you have to select a size. You can create your own custom size by using the link provided on the right of the field. This is the alt tag text. 4 Match Categories: This can be useful if showing category specific banner. You can specify category names for which this banner should show up in this text box. If category name of the website matches with the value in this textbox then the banner is displayed. You can also keep this text box empty so that this banner appear in all categories. You can specify different category names separated by comma so that a banner can appear in number of different categories. Select Months: This is the duration for which the banner will be displayed Once you have added the banners they will start appearing on the banner listing pages in the admin as shown in image below: They will also immediately start displaying in the public area at the location based on their sizes and the getbanner code placement in the templates. Manage Custom Banner Sizes: As you can see the link beside the Banner Type field, you can now manage custom banner sizes in the admin. Just click that link and you will be taken to a manage page like below: Page 4

5 Creating Google Adsense Banner In order to create google adsense type banner, select radio button of Google Adsense as shown in screen below. You will get a text area where you can input the HTML code. Paste the HTML code that you got from your ad network and click on the ad button. Once you have added this banner into database, you will be taken to the banner update page where you can copy the banner TAG: Page 5

6 See the banner calling tag on the left text box: <?= getbanner(1001, '', '', '', 1003)?> If TAG is correctly entered, you will view your ad in the specified spot on the public page as shown in the screenshot below. Page 6
