1 Youth in action Programme 2008 CALL FOR PROPOSALS EACEA/30/08 Action 4.6: Call for Proposals aiming to support partnership projects with regional or local public bodies or with organisations active in the youth sector at European level Overview of projects proposed for funding

2 REFERENCE: AT-2008 Nr 1a TITLE: JUNGE INITIATIVEN FÜR EIN MITEINANDER - MIGRATION & INTEGRATION IN SALZBURG Der Call 4.6 war eine willkommene Initiative, um junge Menschen in den Prozess rund um die Gestaltung der Integration in Salzburg einzubinden. Wir haben über das Jugendreferat einen Aufruf an Jugendgruppen gestartet, sich mit dem Thema "Integration / Migration" zu beschäftigen - auf ihre Art und Weise. Bei einem Vorbereitungstreffen wurden dann die Projektideen vorgestellt - und ein Rahmenprogramm vereinbart, dass alle Projekte verbindet. Die Jugendinitiativen selbst wurden dann von den jungen Menschen selbst und auf eigene Verantwortung ausgearbeitet - das Jugendreferat sieht sich als "Klammer" für diese Projekte und möchte die Ergebnisse dann für das Land Salzburg in zukünftige Maßnahmen einfließen lassen. Aktivitäten werden sein: KICK-OFF Training (April 09), bei dem alle jungen Projektleiter für die Durchführung ihres Projektes nützliche Inputs bekommen sollen, bzw. auch ein Erfahrungsaustausch stattfinden soll. Auf der operativen Ebene wird es um Projektmanagement gehen, auf der inhaltlichen Ebene wollen wir das Thema "Migration & Integration" im Bundsland Salzburg beleuchten und diskutieren Anschließend starten die 5 verschiedenen Jugendinitiativen, die auf den Ebenen Tanz, Literatur, Film und Workshops mit Jugendlichen das Thema "Migration/Integration" verarbeiten werden. Siehe bitte die Aktivitätspläne der einzelnen Jugendprojekte Ende des Jahres wird es ein (Zwischen)-Evaluationstreffen geben, bei denen wieder alle jungen Projektmenschen eingeladen sind, ihr Projekt zu evaluieren, zu präsentieren und die Ergebnisse für die weitere Jugendpolitik zur Verfügung stellen. Die Outputs sind zum einen die Vernetzung der verschiedenen Jugendinitiativen, und der damit verbundene "vereinte" Output junger Menschen aus sehr verschiedenen Lebenslagen zum Thema "Migration & Integration im Bundesland Salzburg". Die fünf Jugendinitiativen werden alle Produkte mit sich bringen, die der weiteren Präsentation des Themas dienen werden: Gruppe 88 produziert den Film "Weltfremd" Afrika Solidarität veranstaltet eine Woche Aktivitäten zum Thema "Jugend und Migration" Die Gruppe "Tanzen!" geht das Thema Integration über das Tanzen an, zum Schluss soll ein interkultureller Tanzfilm entstehen Die Literaturplattform "POETRO" wird ein Buch herausgeben, wo junge Autorinnen sich mit dem Thema Migration & Integration auseinander setzen Doyobe wird in einer Region, die stark mit dem Thema Migration verhaftet ist (in Hallein lebt eine große türkische Community), mit einem Hip Hop Projekt das Thema Migration & Integration bearbeiten, dabei wird es die Möglichkeit geben, zu Performances zu kommen. Die verschiedenen Projekte zeigen den Reichtum an Kreativität und eine starke Motivation, sich mit einem sehr aktuellen Thema auseinander zu setzen. Das Jugendreferat freut sich sehr über diese aktive Teilnahme - und setzt daher auch die Unterstützung mittels Koordination und Kofinanzierung. Alle oben genannten Outcomes werden über unsere Netzwerke im Jugendbereich publik gemacht. Wir hoffen, viele Zuseherinnen, Leserinnen und Teilnehmerinnen zu den verschiedenen Events und Produkten zu gewinnen. 4 REFERENCE: IT-2008 Nr 2 TITLE: EURO-MED YOUTH ON LINE NETWORK (a) to set up a network of young people, working together on European citizenship, sharing news, finding points in common among their cultures, and appreciating differences as added value; (b) the desire to create a network of local bodies, supporting the creation of the young people network, working for young policies, sharing good practices, exchanging knowhow, and mutual helping; (c) to fill the gap for young people with fewer opportunities living in south Italy, Malta and Turkey; (d) to know other cultures, fight individualism, racism, prejudices with art, culture, tourism, common origins; (e) to create an on line newspaper allowing young people to know better other cultures, exchange news and working for active citizenship and cooperation in the youth sector. Partners will meet in Ragusa for a 5-days activity. Trainers and facilitators, coming from different countries, experienced in non formal education and partner building activities, will help participants to know their countries, to analyse their needs, to come to an agreement for a new planned action, to enlarge their network. Participants will be representatives from local bodies and NGOs -working together on youth policies. Young people taking part in the project will also be writing daily articles published on their on line newspaper, newly born. There will also be moments promoting country partners opened to citizens, Media, authority and broadcast on the Internet. The creation of a wide partner network made up of public bodies and NGOs working in the field of Youth; the Euro-Med Youth on line newspaper and network, personal and social development, cooperation among different cultures, positive awareness of other cultures. Each day there will be news and articles on the activities on local Media, on the Internet TV (www.reteiblea.it), on the young on line newspaper. There will be moments promoting country partners opened to citizens, Media, authority and broadcast on the Internet. While back to their countries Young people will organize public moments in their schools to presents results of the action and Youth programme. The same will do public bodies and NGOs representatives. 5 REFERENCE: BE-2008 Nr 3a TITLE: INSPIRING YOUTH TO ACT The proposed project plans to work in cross-sector and cross-border partnerships with 11 partner organisations from the public and independent sectors and 1 informal group in 7 EU Member States and 1 EFTA country. The project works towards promoting and sustaining the active citizenship of young people with fewer opportunities at local, regional, national and European level so that their voices are heard and have an influence on policies. In order to support young people with fewer opportunities to acquire the confidence, competence and capacity to act as active citizens and sustain their efforts, the project plans the following activities: Sub-Action 1.1: Transnational Digital Media Workshop focussing on innovative and creative expression of young people's voices, active citizenship and social inclusion (with an advance planning meeting). Sub-Action 1.2: Transnational training workshop with young people for young people on how to set up and run a Youth Bank and act as social entrepreneurs locally and at a European level (with an advance planning meeting). The Youth Bank training is followed by the implementation and running of both local Youth Banks and a Transnational Youth Bank. Sub-Action 4.3: Transnational train the trainers, for youth workers and those active in youth organisations in advocacy strategies and strategic planning with regard to engaging young people in advocating for policy change and to asses the achieved impact, followed by workshops training young people at the local youth projects, launching first local advocacy activities and setting up local Advocacy Strategy Plans. The expected short- and medium-term results of the three sub-actions are: Sub-Action 1.1: By the end of 2009, 30 youths have learned how to express their voices in an innovative and creative way and produced a live web broadcast of their own media. Sub-Action 1.2: By mid 2009, 30 youths have learned how to set up and run a Youth Bank. By the end of 2009, a Transnational Youth Bank Board has been elected and granted funds to 2 transnational youth activities and 6 local Youth Banks have been established and begun granting funds. Sub-Action 4.3: By the end of 2009, 30 youth workers have been trained as facilitators in advocacy and strategic planning; by February 2010, the youth workers have trained young people and by April 2010, at least one local advocacy activity campaign is launched in each local site; by mid of 2010, Advocacy Strategic Plans are set up by the partner cities/municipalities/youth departments. Final reports, evaluation reports and generated content will be placed on the websites of the applicant, the implementing body and the other partners. While all suitable content created in the youth exchange will be put on public websites (youtube, Google video, flickr, etc). Joint promotion of the results together with the Youth in Action Programme through publication on the websites and other means of publication. -Training outcomes will be promoted as part of NEF/YEPP's activities and drawn upon for the planning of future similar activities. All the organisations involved and their associated partners, such as partner foundations and the OECD will disseminate the project results and promote follow up activities and further actions through their regular forums and projects such as conferences, platforms and seminars. 7 REFERENCE: BG-2008 Nr 4a TITLE: EUROPEAN CITIZENSHIP INTERCULTURAL TRAINING COURSES The series of network training courses on European Citizenship aims to support the professional development of youth workers and youth leaders by extending their critical understanding of European Citizenship, exploring and experiencing its potential and by enabling them to recognise and integrate European Citizenship in their youth work. The four Training Courses organised from April 2009 to January 2010 constitute the central training courses on «European Citizenship» by the network of four European youth organizations. They put into practice «Priority 1 - European Citizenship» of the «Youth in Action» Programme. The Training Courses on European Citizenship support this vision through a common curriculum which fulfils five objectives, namely to: critically explore the meaning relevance and implications European citizenship in youth work in all its dimensions; promote and facilitate the active use of programmes and structures in support of youth work on European Citizenship, including the «Youth in Action» programme; experiment and explore the potential of European Citizenship for active democratic change in society; associate the participants with the current discourse on European Citizenship (its concepts, formal meanings and expressions); exemplify the connection between European Citizenship, Human Rights, Democracy and ICL and the underlying values. The main themes are reflecting the aim and objectives of the Training Courses. They are: European Citizenship: What is European Citizenship? How can it be used in youth work? What is the political relevance of the concept? Europe and European identity: What does it mean to be European? How European are young people today? Where does Europe come from? What is its future? Citizenship in Action: What does it mean to be an active citizen? Are young people active citizens? Should youth work encourage active citizenship? How could that be done? Dilemmas around European Citizenship: Is it possible to be a critical European citizen? What about the world? How can European citizenship become reality? Democracy, Participation, Human Rights and Intercultural Learning: What are the connections between these themes, practices and concepts and European citizenship? Youth in Action: How can European Citizenship be approached in youth work? How can the «Youth in Action» Programme support youth work on European Citizenship? 1. Training course on: "Active Youth Participation & Empowerment" - October 2009, Germany As a result of their attendance of the course, participants will have developed: a critical understanding of the tensions, opportunities and challenges arising from an enlarging Europe; - the capacity to debate ideas of "European citizenship"; the potential to integrate European dimensions into their work with young people, particularly "cascading" these capabilities to young people; reflections on experiences and stimuli on how to deal with the topic of European citizenship, both in non-formal and formal learning environments; the skills and abilities necessary In order to set up a project on European citizenship with young people and the tools to benefit from the gained experience (increased visibility and evaluation possibilities); their understanding of intercultural learning and its relation to European citizenship; their motivation and capacity to enrich and contribute to conceptual developments and debates on European Youth Policy and on European level youth worker and youth leader training;

8 REFERENCE: BG-2008 Nr 4b a broader and clearer understanding of European citizenship deriving from the Institutional co-operation in this particular area; a clearer and extended knowledge of European youth programmes and the possibilities these programmes offer to support local projects for European citizenship; a network of contacts and potential partners in Europe. Dissemination and exploitation measures will have the same format of visibility measures indicated in the section above; as well as the standard dissemination and exploitation measures. We will set up additional measures to spread and highlight the value of our project's results. As an additional dissemination and exploitation measures we will organise public events (presentations, conferences, workshops...); we will create audio-visual products (CD-Rom, DVD...). All the partners will set up long-term collaboration with media (series of radio/tv/press contributions, interviews, participation in different radio/tv programmes...) and will developing information material (newsletters, brochures, booklets, best practice manuals...) as well as creation of an Internet portal. 9 REFERENCE: RO-2008 Nr 5 TITLE: CULTURAL, ARTISTIC AND SPORTIVE CENTRE The objectives for our project are: increasing with 30% the responsibility of the youngsters for being European citizens; improving with 35% the involving of youngsters in public life; increasing with 30 % the mutual understanding among youngsters who are from different cultures, with different backgrounds; increasing with 40 % the social inclusion of youngsters with fewer opportunities. We mention that all the participants are selected following some criteria (all of them are from a rural area). Because of hard conditions in the past 80% of the participants didn't graduated more than 8 grades, 50% of the participants are from poor families, 3 youngsters are ill (because of the missing of food or because of the dirty conditions in which they live), 4 youngsters are from gipsy families, very poor, with very small houses, 5 youngsters are from villages close to Bucuresci, villages very Isolated without an asphalted road and the access to their houses is very difficult, 2 persons are with handicap, 3 participants grew up in centres for children waiting for adoption ). increasing with 50% the visibility and the consistency of youngster's activities; increasing with 35% the dialog and the partnership among local public bodies, companies from our areas and nongovernmental organisations from neighbourhood by working together for projects regarding youth development. Using computers and Internet, Dancing as a common language, Exploring the universe of the library, "Us, youngsters, democracy, EU, all by Youth In Action", Reviving the old traditions, Cycling is a sport and a way for seeing the beauty around us, Gymnastic exercises and cleaned environment maintain our health, Bringing back the life in Cultural Club, Team and coordination sports is the way of social cohesion, Zooming outside and exploring inside the mountains. Exhibition with photos from dances, small movie about the danger of smoking, the video material with the dialogs and presentations of books will be given to a TV station, a TV station will transmit the meeting with the Romanian author and with the foreign author, they will wear caps and t-shirts with the logos of Youth In Action Programme and of EU, the will share the informing papers about democracy and EU in 20 villages around us and they will have a presentation in Brad City with a video material about the difference between communism and democracy. We will make a book about all we have done in our project and we will present this book at the regional body (of the level of our county) and we will make lobby for integrating our project into an institutional circuit. All the local bodies will have the possibility to apply for a similar project at the regional body. 10 REFERENCE: FR-2008 Nr 6 TITLE: EXPLORING EUROPEAN CULTURAL DIVERSITY THROUGH AUDIOVISUAL S The aim of the project is to explore the European cultural diversity through audiovisual projects, which are complementary. NISI MASA wants to offer to young people, meetings, where they can develop their knowledge about the European diversity through the exploration of specifics cities, the discovering of European films and through seminars about Youth audiovisuals organisations. These activities promote the active citizenship of the participants by involving them in concrete and realistic projects. It also aims to develop the network in terms of project's strategy and youth organisations' development. Four Youth exchanges are planned: two are filmmaking's workshops about exploring the social and cultural backgrounds of two cities and two are film journalism's workshop which consists of the publication of a daily gazette during two film festivals. Two Youth initiatives are also filmmaking's workshops but about thematic fiction stories. The two last activities are two seminars about the financial and volunteers' management of cultural organisations. The outputs of the all project are the production of short movies and magazines about Europe cultural diversity. Thanks to the seminars, the organisations will learn about organisation development and thus they will able to develop new audiovisual projects for young people. It will enrich the participants thanks to cultural exchange and enlarge their personal horizon. The project will also strengthen a youth network and thereof the local organisations. The results of the projects will be disseminated in all the network of NISI MASA, thanks to DVD's, magazines, guidelines and press communiqués. Some screenings will be organised in many countries which will present the results of the project. Promoting the youth development we will improve the quality of life of young people, above all of the juvenile groups vulnerable and excluded taking care of to promote its personal autonomy across the activities that we will realize cultural and socially. The developed activities will foment the well-being of younger and will develop the concept of European citizenship, creating equally labour opportunities in the rural area fomenting the creativity, tolerance and improving the quality of the systems of activities' support. On having extended the margins of vision of Logrosán's youth across Europe's knowledge and its reality we will foment the respect towards the cultural diversity, racism and xenophobia, obtaining like proved the equality of opportunities. Logrosán Town Council will facilitate the access to the resources and possibilities, advising to the youth and informing them that from the town hall and with European Community's help could have created the First Plan of Juvenile Action.
