Responsible for the Women s and Children s Service Line, Behavioral Health Services, and Acute Care Services. Strengthened linkages with multiple schools of nursing leading to improved clinical experiences for students and low nursing vacancy rates for the hospital. Provided clinical leadership for the design and implementation of an automated patient medical record.

Served as Administrator for many new programmatic initiatives, including Relationship Based Care, multiple hospital-wide patient safety efforts, developing a hospitality house, and room service for food delivery to Director of Adult Acute Care Services 1999 Sparrow Health System, Lansing, Michigan Programmatic and operational accountability for the Critical Care, Medical/Surgical Divisions, and Emergency Services. Progressively assumed more responsibility for this 562-bed teaching, tertiary healthcare system. Also served as the Administrative Director for the Cardiovascular and Neuroscience Clinical Services Lines while responsible for nursing areas. Assisted with leadership for contract negotiations with union. Critical Care and Medical/Surgical Services Promoted professional nursing practice in a wide variety of clinical areas. Fostered collaborative relationships with bargaining unit members through a mutual gains process. Established and consistently maintained a strong working relationship with the bargaining unit. Partnered and jointly problem solved with leaders from the union for various initiatives. Assumed the lead role in merging the clinical areas from Sparrow and St. Lawrence Hospitals. Coordinated numerous performance improvement activities across multiple settings. Provided overall direction for increasing the skill level of staff to care for more complex and higher acuity patients in the medical/surgical units. Assisted with the implementation of an inpatient hospice unit. Provided direction and input for the creation of clinical pathways achieving improved coordination between disciplines and decreased lengths of stay. Coordinated the adult acute care component of facility planning. Assumed the lead role for the development and implementation of the business plan for the Mid-Michigan Regional Burn Center. Assisted with the creation of an outpatient burn/wound clinic. Served as liaison for the Hmong population to receive health care from Sparrow. Emergency/Trauma Services Authored the Trauma Services Business Plan that served as the blueprint for becoming a Level I Trauma Center. Contributed to strategic planning which increased volume by over twenty percent. Assumed the lead role for the implementation of the Chest Pain Center. Coordinated the integration of two emergency departments. Assisted with the planning of triage and urgent care capabilities. Contributed to the implementation of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner program. Assisted with the creation of a Mobile ICU and Ground Transportation Unit.

3 Cardiovascular Services Assumed the lead role for planning and implementing a new open heart program. Assisted with the implementation of the cardiac catheterization program. Authored the business plan for the Cardiovascular Service Line. Conceptualized and implemented an outpatient heart failure clinic. Implemented a database to improve the clinical effectiveness and operational efficiency of the cardiovascular program. Neuroscience Services Assumed the lead role for the development and implementation of a comprehensive plan for the treatment of stroke patients in the Health System. Assisted with the development and implementation of a new neuroscience critical care and stepdown unit. Implemented neurology outreach clinics in surrounding communities.
