3 Program Overview The University offers a Master of Science in Nursing at the Troy, Montgomery, and Phenix City campuses. The purpose of the MSN program is to provide preparation for advanced practice in nursing as a clinical specialist, nurse practitioner or nursing informatics specialist and the basis for doctoral study. The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) track offers clinical concentrations in Adult Health and Maternal- Infant Health Nursing and functional role development in education or administration. The nurse practitioner track offers specialization as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). The Nursing informatics track offers specialization as a Nursing Informatics Specialist.

8 Curriculum Committee Graduate Nursing Programs Curriculum Sub- Committee provides oversight of the MSN Program curriculum (Dr. Janice Nelson, Dr. Patsy Riley, Dr. Jan Kimble, and Dr. Aimee Vael) Graduate Nursing Faculty (Dr. Geraldine Allen,Dr.Patsy Riley, Dr. Janice Nelson, Dr. Jan Kimble, Dr. Imani Goodwin, Dr. Amy Spurlock, Dr. Diane Weed, Dr. Susan Holmes, and Dr. Aimee Vael, Dr. Bernita Hamilton, ex-officio) review and consider recommendations for curricular decisions from the Sub-Committee Graduate Nursing Faculty met on September 21, 2009 and April 5, 2010 to consider curricular issues
9 Recent Improvements Based on prior assessment activities, the MSN program has implemented several improvements, including increasing the number of students who pass the capstone examination selected by faculty on the first attempt and increasing the number of employer returned questionnaires.
10 Program Level Expected Outcomes (including student learning outcomes) 2006, 2007, % or more of MSN students will complete their specialty track within 150% of the time for the stated program length. The MSN Program has exceeded this outcome with an average graduation rate of 91% for the past 5 years. 80% or more of students will pass the national certification examination on the first attempt. 2006: 100% 2007: 98% 2008: 100%
