1 APPRENTICE APPLICANT TERMS AND CONDITIONS For Bauer Radio Limited t/a Key103 s Traffic and Travel Apprenticeship scheme, in association with Chesterfield College t/a Learning Unlimited ( Apprenticeship Provider ) These terms and conditions should be read together with, and are in addition to, Bauer Radio Limited s standard terms and conditions at: (the General Terms ). Together these applicant competition terms and conditions and the General Terms shall be referred to as the Terms. ITEM 1: OPPORTUNITY ITEM 2: ORGANISER Creative & Digital Media Level 3 apprenticeship course (traffic and travel reporter and trainee web editor) arranged by Key103 in association with Chesterfield College t/a Learning Unlimited. Further details are set out at ITEM 10 (the Opportunity ) Bauer Radio Limited trading as Key103, registered office: 1 Lincoln Court, Lincoln Road, Peterborough, PE1 2FR and registered under company number is (the ORGANISER ). This competition is run in association with Chesterfield College, ITEM 3: APPRENTICESHIP PROVIDER Chesterfield College t/a Learning Unlimited ITEM 4: APPLICATION START DATE ITEM 5: APPLICATION CLOSING DATE 3 rd March 2014 at 03:00pm (the Start Date ). 12 th March 2014 at 23:59 (the End Date ). Applications received before the Start Date or after the Closing Date (for whatever reason) will not be processed or considered for the position. ITEM 6: SELECTION CRITERIA The successful applicant who will be awarded the Opportunity will be the applicant that: has excellent communication skills, both written and oral; is able to undertake research using a variety of sources; is creative, able to alter their style of writing to reflect their audience; is able to multitask and prioritise work schedules; is computer literate and possesses good keyboard skills; and interested in different methods of communication. ITEM 7: SELECTION PROCESS The Apprenticeship Provider is responsible for overseeing the recruitment process. Incomplete application forms will not be processed. Round 1 Completed application forms will be collected by Apprenticeship Provider which will select a short list of applicants (judged in accordance with the Selection Criteria at ITEM [8], below) who will be invited to attend an interview at Key103 s premises. Such interview will be held during normal working hours and between 17 th 28 th March At this interview, each person shortlisted must also record a short demo example of a traffic and travel link. It is the applicant s responsibility to make sure they are available to attend this interview. If applicants are unable to attend, their application will be unsuccessful. Round 2 After Round 1, a shortlist of 10 entrants will be chosen by the Organiser. The ten shortlisted entrants (the Shortlisted Applicant ) will be contacted by telephone before the 28 th March and asked to confirm whether or not they can take part in the next phase of the selection process as detailed below. The Shortlisted Applicants will be required to attend Key103 s studios to take part in a range of challenges (between and including 2nd 9th April 2014) relevant to the skill required for the Opportunity, relating to traffic and travel and the Organiser s web content (such challenges will be broadcast on the Key103 Home Run show 3pm 7pm 2nd 9th April). If the Shortlisted Applicants are unable to attend Round 2 this decision is final and he/she cannot change his/her mind at a later date. If a Shortlisted Applicant declines to take part in Round 2 or drops out, for whatever reason, it will be at the sole but reasonable discretion of the Promoter to decide how best to proceed with the application process. For example, next best entrant may become a Shortlisted Applicant. The ten Shortlisted Applicants may also be expected to take part in marketing and promotions for the Organiser / Apprenticeship Provider in connection with the Opportunity, including, but not limited to, interviews, online video or TV appearances, and photoshoots. Shortlisted Entrants will be given a minimum of 2 working days if they are

3 required to take part in such promotion. Round 3 (Final Round) Two of the Short-listed Applicants (who have been most successful at the Round 2 challenges), will be set a Traffic and Travel reporter themed challenge on 9 th April. The applicant that performs the best (in the Organiser s reasonable opinion) will be awarded the Opportunity. The Organiser s and Apprenticeship Provider s decision is final with respect to applicants performances of the challenges. ITEM 8: RESTRICTIONS The Opportunity is only open to individuals that: Are UK residents; Are aged 16 years or over at the date of their application Hold a valid permit to work in the UK; and Are not an employee (or family member) of the Organiser, Provider or any other company involved in the Opportunity. Applicants may be requested to provide photographic ID to prove their age. ITEM 9: SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT The successful applicant, who will be awarded the Opportunity will be notified in person on 9 th April At the same time, the successful applicant will be provided with the Apprenticeship Provider s apprenticeship agreement (which the successful applicant must sign before commencing the Opportunity) and the Organiser s policy documentation and codes of conduct (which the successful applicant should review, and must abide by, during the term of their Opportunity) The name and the home town of the successful applicant will be available on request by sending a SAE to Key103 after 9 th April ITEM 10: OPPORTUNITY DETAILS The successful applicant will (subject to the complying with these Terms and signing the Apprenticeship Provider s agreement) be awarded: A 15 month apprenticeship contract with the Apprenticeship Provider (commencing on Monday 14 th April 2014 and finishing on 13 th July 2015) mentored by and predominantly located at Key103 Radio Station, Manchester. On successful completion of the apprenticeship contract, the candidate will have obtained a Creative & Digital Media Level 3 apprenticeship. The Opportunity is managed by the Apprenticeship Provider but will involve: working 30 hours per week at Key 103 s premises; payment of 2.68 per hour for the first 12 months after which point the hourly rate of pay will go to the national minimum wage for their age group; and a role as Traffic and Travel Reporter and Web content trainee for Key 103, split between compiling and reading Traffic and Travel bulletins on Key 103 s drive-time show and working as trainee web editor for Key 103. Day to day duties for Travel & Travel will include: reading 2 traffic and travel bulletins an hour on Key 103 s drivetime show Monday to Friday between 4.00pm 7.00pm; researching and writing the bulletins using appropriate resources; managing calls and texts from listeners about up to the minute traffic issues; assisting with collecting ROT for Key 103 s commercial activity when requested. Day to day duties for Trainee web editor will include (but not be limited to): working closely with the content manager and breakfast show producer to produce new relevant and interactive content for Key 103 s website. writing and displaying content for Key 103 s website in an interesting and appealing manner appropriate for the audience; sourcing relevant images and artwork; maintaining certain areas of the Key 103 s website ensuring the information is accurate and up to date and legally compliant; and assisting with social media messages on Key103 platforms. The successful applicant must comply with the Organiser s standard code of conduct and policies, copies of which will be provided to the successful applicant on 9 th April Failure to comply may result in termination of your apprenticeship contract. ITEM 11: DATA PROTECTION Applicants personal data (including telephone numbers and addresses) will be collected by the Organiser and Apprenticeship Provider and will only be used to process applications. By applying for the Opportunity, applicants

5 ITEM 12: INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND CONSENTS consent to the storage and processing of their personal data as described here, which shall be strictly in accordance with current UK Data Protection legislation. Personal data may remain stored by the Organiser and /or Apprenticeship Provider after the application process has ended but will not be used for marketing purposes. For further information on the Organiser s uses of personal data, please see our general terms and conditions along with our privacy policy at: Shortlisted Applicants consent to their voice and likeness being used on the Key 103 s radio broadcasts, the Key 103 website or social media platforms and to an audio only or audio-visual copy (the Recording ) being stored by the Organiser for exploitation in any and all media for promotional or other purposes. To the extent possible, entrants agree to assign to the Organiser the title to any intellectual property rights or interest that they may have in the Recording. All moral rights in the Recording are waived by the relevant Shortlisted Applicant. The Apprenticeship Provider also has the right to use the Recording online and for PR purposes. ITEM 13: OTHER CONDITIONS Only applications received in accordance with these Terms will be accepted. Applicants may only apply once. The Organiser / Apprenticeship Provider have the right to disqualify applicants from the selection process if it reasonably believes participants have breached any of the Terms. If there is any misunderstanding, mistake or dispute concerning the operation of the application process the Organiser s / Apprenticeship Provider s decision shall be final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into on this subject. The Organiser / Apprenticeship Provider are not responsible for any costs associated with the application process, including making phone calls / accessing websites / travel costs. Applicants may be disqualified if it appears to the Organiser that any Shortlisted Applicants attending Round 2 / 3 challenges are intoxicated or likely to offend listeners. Whilst applicants are on-air, they promise not to make any statement which is inappropriate or which would be likely to bring the Organiser / Apprenticeship Provider into disrepute. Other than for death or personal injury

6 ITEM 14: CONTACT DETAILS resulting from its negligence and so far as permitted by law, the Organiser hereby excludes all liability for any loss, damage, cost and expense, whether direct or indirect, howsoever caused in connection with the Opportunity or application process. The Organiser / Apprenticeship Provider reserve the right to cancel, amend, terminate or temporarily suspend this Opportunity / application process if it is required to do so due to circumstances outside its reasonable control, with no liability to any entrants or third parties. The successful applicant accepts that their contract for the apprenticeship Opportunity will be with the Apprenticeship Provider, not the Organiser. The Organiser will not be the employer of the successful applicant. Alternative opportunities will not be offered if for any reason the successful applicant chooses to terminate their apprenticeship before the end of the 12 month term.
