27 Fall Protection Issues Protection of Open Stringers Limit to 150 mm the size of open stringers. This is a relaxation from current interpretation (100 mm)and has no impact on stairs were the guards are installed close to the nosing Handrails on the narrow side of Winders and tapered treads Clarification and this is often the current practice Height of Handrails NBC 2012 allows an expanded range of installation from 865 to 965 mm Proposal: 865 to 1070 mm

28 Fall Protection Issues (1) Clearances of Handrails to Rough or Abrasive Surfaces Require 60 mm instead of 50 mm where handrails are installed on rough surfaces Required Guards and Exceptions Harmonize the guard requirement to a single criterion (600 mm) no impact, simplify regulation No Change Protection at Windows Openings in Guards Slip Resistance and Contrasting Identification
