LAX Landside Access Modernization Program Bòard of Airport Commissioners November 19, 2015.

MTh Challenge e Being the busiest origin and destination airport in the world presents many challenges to passengers when trying to access LAX I, \, _.,,,,, \

Today's Experience in the Central Terminal Area Not Enough Curb Curb is too short and too shallow, and certain sections are sandwiched between traffic lanes. _ ediall 1 Mode Conflicts Shared roadway and curb creates conflicts between private, commercial, and service vehicles. Limited Roadways Roadway capacity saturated during peaks. Low predictability for passengers trying to catch a flight. Peaks will be longer as activity increases. Limited Options No direct transit connection and all passengers must use a single roadway/ point of entry to access the terminals. Program Briefing (November 2015) 4

Why is it so hard to get in or out of LAX? Currently, everyone shares the same roadway and curb system in the Central Terminal Area. That roadway system is approaching saturation during peak periods, creating a poor level of service and causing spillover traffic congestion on local roads and freeways.,,,:....; 4 LAWA must create a new way to get passengers to their terminals that can be accessed by all modes! Centra[ Terminal Area Program Briefing (November 2015) 5

The Rental Car Experience at LAX Rental Car businesses are currently scattered all over the LAX area. Rental Car customers must take shuttles from the CTA to their provider. Shuttles are a major source of congestion in the CTA and on area streets. Passengers get easily lost trying to return their rental vehicles. r \ J Sa., t Éi.r'?iÌ ".
