3 Today's Experience in the Central Terminal Area Not Enough Curb Curb is too short and too shallow, and certain sections are sandwiched between traffic lanes. _ ediall 1 Mode Conflicts Shared roadway and curb creates conflicts between private, commercial, and service vehicles. Limited Roadways Roadway capacity saturated during peaks. Low predictability for passengers trying to catch a flight. Peaks will be longer as activity increases. 4 Why is it so hard to get in or out of LAX? Currently, everyone shares the same roadway and curb system in the Central Terminal Area. That roadway system is approaching saturation during peak periods, creating a poor level of service and causing spillover traffic congestion on local roads and freeways.,,,:....; 4 LAWA must create a new way to get passengers to their terminals that can be accessed by all modes! 5 The Rental Car Experience at LAX Rental Car businesses are currently scattered all over the LAX area. Rental Car customers must take shuttles from the CTA to their provider. Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) is developing a multi-billion dollar, revolutionary update to the ground transportation system at Los Angeles I nternational Airport (LAX). The Landside Access Modernization Program (LAMP) includes several major elements, including a landside Automated People Mover (APM), a Consolidated Rent - A -Car (CONRAC) facility, multiple Intermodal Transportation Facilities (ITFs), and a comprehensive network of roadway improvements.
