1 Level 1 Certificate in Business Administration Lecturer Guidance Notes Aims and Objectives The Level 1 Certificate in Business Administration is a vocational qualification regulated by Ofqual within the Qualification and Credit Framework. It focuses on a range of knowledge and skills required by the Business Administration Industry. The qualification is designed to provide a sound platform onto further training and learning at Level 2 or to enable Learners to gain the necessary skills in order to provide quality Business and Administration services in employment The Level 1 Certificate in Business Administration is comprised of a minimum of 25 credits 17 credits from Mandatory Group A, and a minimum of 8 credits from Optional Group B. 2 K/506/ Handle Mail T/506/ Use Office Equipment Y/506/ Produce Business Documents R/506/ Store and Retrieve Information H/506/ Communication in a Business L/506/ Employee Rights and Responsibilities A/506/ Deal with Customer Queries, Requests and Problems J/502/ Using Minimum guided learning hours 150 Maximum guided learning hours It also aims: to provide knowledge at Level 1 in the Qualifications and Credit Framework for those interested in Business Administration to provide opportunities for staff in Business Administration to gain a Level 1 qualification to qualify Learners in Business Administration at Level 1 to sustain the interest of Learners wanting to work in Business Administration to encourage knowledge and understanding of Business Administration at Level 1 to provide opportunities for Learners to focus on the development of the major functional skills and the wider functional skills in a Business Administration context, such as communicating, working with others and problem solving to provide opportunities for Learners to develop a range of skills, techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in employment in Business Administration General Advice 1. Requirements for Undertaking this Qualification It is recommended that Learners should have achieved a level of education equivalent to five GCSEs at grades A*-C prior to commencing the Level 1 Certificate in Business Administration, however exemptions may be made for adult returners with experience of the workplace A scheme of work must be approved by prior to the commencement of the course for all units 2. Structure of the Qualification and Guided Learning Hours (GLH) The Level 1 Certificate in Business Administration is comprised of 6 mandatory units which provide Learners with a total of 17 credits and optional units which total a minimum of 8 credits Recommended guided learning hours for the qualification

3 Guided learning hours are a notional measure of the substance of a qualification. They include an estimate of the time that might be allocated to direct teaching or instruction together with other structured learning time such as directed assignments, assessments on the job or supported individual study. They exclude Learner initiated private study 3. Delivery of the Qualification Delivery of the qualification will encompass all of the learning outcomes, assessment criteria and underpinning knowledge identified by in the design of the qualification 4. Assessment and Grading of the Qualification This qualification will be assessed using a variety of assessment methods as set out below. All internal assessments will be undertaken by the Centre Appointed Assessors and Internal Verifiers. Multiple-choice assessments () will be set and marked by. All units are graded b. If a Learner is unsuccessful in any area, they will be re-assessed only in the unit where they have not achieved a pass grade c. The remainder of the results will stay in the system until all units have been achieved d. Learners must achieve a pass grade in all assessments to achieve the Level 1 Certificate in Business Administration (see assessment table above) Registration Registration for all the units should be made on the registration form and sent by to Alternatively registrations may be made online at or registration forms may be sent to via post Opportunities for Progression Once Learners have achieved the Level 1 Certificate in Business Administration they may progress on to other or equivalent qualifications at Level 2 or above, for example: Level 2 Certificate in Business Administration Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration Level 2 Certificate in Customer Service Level 2 Diploma in Customer Service Level 2 Certificate in Management and Leadership Level 2 Diploma in Management and Leadership
