9 PREFACE The education, science and culture are important spheres in on going reforms in the country, which are main indicators of social condition population. The present publication is aimed to provide for the broad public information on the state of education, science and culture in the last years. At this time, within the limits of the possible users requirements are envisaged. Information reflected in the publication characterizes state of the educational network in Georgia, dynamic of number of pupils according to educational level, management of educational process. Great attention is paid to scientific potential of the country, as well as to indicators from the sphere of culture. Requirements of gender statistics are envisaged. The publication is prepared by Social Infrastructure Statistics Brunch of Social and Demographic Division of the Department of Statistics, based on current statistical observation, data of special surveys and information obtained from other ministries and institutions.
