1 Middle and High School Summer Program Fort Bend ISD 2016 Instructions for Original and Pre-AP Course Enrollment 1. Students/Parents access and print middle and/or high school brochures and registration forms on FBISD summer school website: **Extra copies are located in the counseling office. 2. Students/Parents submit completed registration form(s) to current school counselor (one form per course/session). 3. Counselor approves/signs registration form. 4. Counselor (or campus designee) returns original + 1 copy to student/parent. 5. Counselor provides one copy of registration form to registrars/data entry clerks. 6. Data Entry Clerks, Registrars/Assistant Registrars must put the student into the Summer School Entity AND unlock the enrolling student s scheduling status. 7. Once the Data Entry Clerks, Registrar/Assistant Registrar enrolls student into Summer School Entity AND unlocks the schedule, parents should be able to select the course and pay online. This should take 2-3 school days from the time the counselor approves the registration request. 8. After the registrar/assistant registrar or data entry clerk enters the student in the summer school site and unlocks the schedule, students or parents will be able to select the summer school site in Skyward (Following the Family Access Directions posted). Student/Parent completes online registration and payment (enrollment is not confirmed until payment is made). Payment can be made online or by cash only in the FBISD Business Office at the Administration Building from 8:30 am 4:00 pm during online registration. For cash payments, students must provide a copy of the course registration form (with counselor approval) to the Business Office AND the course already selected in Skyward. The Business Office does not have the ability to select a course in Skyward. *Skyward online registration directions will be posted on the summer school site. 9. Registration remains open from April 4 until June 7, 2016 or until classes are full. Once a class is full, it will appear grayed out in Skyward. 10. Payment does not guarantee a seat in the course. The number of courses offered will be determined by the number of qualified teachers hired for summer school. Refunds will be provided due to cancelation of courses and will not be subject to a process fee. Students/Parents may cancel out of a course with approval from the summer school principal at the hosting site before the first day of school with a $25.00 processing fee. No refunds will be given if students/parents cancel out of course on or after the first day of summer school. ***Summer School Transportation: Please make sure you sign-up for the Free Transportation course in Skyward in order for the student to be listed for transportation. Transportation is not provided for Pre-AP/AP Programs.

4 Class Assignments - Classes are assigned by the summer school administrative team based on enrollment, need, and the availability of certified teachers. Courses that are cancelled due to insufficient enrollment or lack of certified teachers will result in a full refund or the opportunity for the student to select another available course. Grades - Progress reports will be given to students for Session I and Session II on the seventh day of each session. Final grades will be mailed to the student's home at the conclusion of each session. Attendance Policy - Efficient use of class time is essential to the student s success. Students will be withdrawn without receiving credit for the course if they have more than two (2) absences during a session, regardless of the date of the third absence. A student is marked absent after missing the first 30 minutes of a class. Three tardies in a class will be counted as one (1) absence. Refunds will not be given to students who are withdrawn for excessive absences/tardiness. Dress Code - All students attending summer school in FBISD are required to follow the FBISD dress code and grooming policies. Students receiving a second (2nd) warning will be withdrawn from summer school without receiving a grade for the session regardless of the date within the session on which the incident occurs. Refunds will not be given to students who are withdrawn for dress and grooming violations. Discipline Policy - All students will follow the FBISD Student Code of Conduct. Students refusing to adhere to the code of conduct who receive a second (2nd) discipline referral will be withdrawn from summer school without receiving a grade for the session regardless of the date within the session. In addition, physical and/or verbal confrontations on campus or on the school bus, which are deemed to cause a major disruption of the educational environment and/or impair the driver s operation of the school bus, will result in the student being immediately withdrawn from summer school. This action will be taken without receipt of a grade/credit for the session regardless of the date within the session on which the incident occurs. Refunds will not be given to students who are withdrawn for discipline reasons. Transportation High School Summer School 2016 Transportation will be provided for FBISD summer school students. Pickup and drop-off locations will be provided during registration. Bus stops during the summer will be at cluster elementary locations. Refund Policy - Students who are withdrawn from summer school or removed from the bus for disciplinary reasons or who are withdrawn because of excessive tardiness/ absences, will not receive any refund for fees paid on behalf of the student. Refunds will not be given once classes begin on the first day of each summer school session. All allowable requests for refunds must be made in writing to the summer school principal and approved by the principal. A $25 processing fee will be deducted from each approved refund. Refunds will be given due to the cancellation of classes and will not be subject to a processing fee. Allow up to 4 weeks processing time. CAMPUS Elkins High School 7007 Knights Court Missouri City, Original Credit Courses (counselor s permission required) are for students who are taking a course for the first time or students who are repeating a course due to excessive absences or denied credit. The regular Fort Bend ISD curriculum will be followed. All courses meet five (5) hours daily for the entire session. Remedial Credit Courses are for students who are repeating a course. The regular Fort Bend ISD curriculum will be followed. All courses meet five (5) hours daily for the entire session. No student will be allowed to take the second semester of a course without having previously passed the first semester of the course. End of Course (EOC) Tests: Incoming 9th - 11th grade students enrolling in courses with an EOC component will be required to take the assessment at the next available administration (subject to any legislative changes in state assessment requirements). **These are one semester courses and may be completed in one session for a.5 unit of credit. Students who failed during the regular term due to lack of attendance must repeat the course as an original credit course if offered.

Parents and students are encouraged to pay at the time the course is selected in Family Access in order to avoid being dropped from the course. Online course selections will not be held without payment. If students are dropped from the course they previously selected, the course will need to be selected again in Family Access before payment is accepted online or at the Business & Finance Office (16431 Lexington Blvd., Sugar Land, 77479). Students may avoid summer school walk-in registration by selecting courses and paying online with a credit/debit card through Fort Bend ISD s Family Access go to (Family Access is an icon at the top right side of the home page.) Parents may contact the FBISD Customer Support Center at for Family Access assistance. Cash only payment (no checks accepted) may be made between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the Fort Bend ISD Administration Building Business & Finance Office (16431 Lexington Blvd., Sugar Land 77479). Parents must bring all Registration Forms completed and signed (course must be selected in Family Access) by campus counselor before coming to the Administration Building to pay. Payment will only be accepted if both of the above steps have been completed. Parents will be instructed to attend Walk-in Registration on June 8, 2016, if they are unable to access Family Access to select the appropriate course. Print the Registration Form or see your school counselor for the form. Walk-in Registration *Out of district students are able to attend FBISD General Summer School programs and register during walk-in registration only. An additional $100 administration fee will apply unless parent/guardian is able to verify residence (a utility bill may be used for verification). *Students will need to register for BOTH Sessions I & II during Walk-in Registration. No student will be allowed to take the second half of a course without having previously passed the first half of the course. Only one class can be taken per session. Students who earn a final grade of 70 or above at the end of the session in a course will earn a half-credit (.5) for the course. Students will be withdrawn from summer school without receiving a grade/credit and without receiving a refund of fees paid if they have more than two (2) absences or exhibit discipline problems as set forth in the FBISD Student Code of Conduct (i.e., disruption of the educational environment).
