8 Getting started with NetACE n a «Brwnfield» Netwrk High-level steps 1. Install NetACE n a Virtual Machine 2. Define via GUI-based Device Type Manager (DTM) the netwrk equipment types/vendrs yu wuld like t manage and prvisin in NetACE (a prcess that takes less than 10 minutes per device type). 3. By specifying IP Address range(s) autmatically discver the Tplgy Map and build a Device Level Inventry f yur multi-vendr netwrk realizing full FCAPS functinality. 4. Create (mdel) the netwrk services mdels using an intuitive Data Mdeling Language and GUI-based Service Mdeling Tl (nte that service mdels are used fr bth Service Prvisining and fr Recnciling Existing Services frm the Netwrk). 5. Create (mdel) the netwrk resurce managers using the GUI-based Netwrk Resurce Editr and synchrnize all the cnfigured resurces acrss yur multivendr netwrk int the NetACE. (A nnnetwrk related data can be als pushed t the Net-ACE DB) 6. Discver (recncile) the existing services frm the netwrk and build a real-time Service Level Inventry (nce discvered these netwrk services will be managed and cntrlled as if they were prvisined via NetACE). 7. NetACE s autmated discvery prcess cmpletely eliminates preparatry manual data entry. Adding a new Vendr in 15 minutes via GUI-based tl (Device-adaptr-free) Adding a new and previusly unknwn device vendr t an NMS is usually a very expensive and time-cnsuming prcess which requires vendr interventin and driver develpment. The device may have nn-standard MIBs that need t be mapped t the device prperties, and therefre the relevant changes must be inserted in several places in the surce cde (e.g. OIDs must be hardcded t shw mdule infrmatin). These cde changes inevitably mean the release f a new sftware versin. In NetACE's, adding a new device type is speedily dne within 15 minutes and never requires cde mdificatin r new driver installatin. As part f the prcess, every new device type cnfiguratin is autmatically stred int NetACE's database including all its OIDs as cnfigured by the peratr.
