Tax Receipts for Donations Be sure to send out tax receipts for donations from 2011 and those receipts need to be in the donor's hand by time they file their tax returns. A few quick guidelines from IRS Publication 526 for individual cash contributions of $250 or more: Must be in writing (hardcopy or ) Must include an itemized list of individual amounts contributed and the date of each contribution Must state whether the donor received any goods or services for the donation (additional information is required if goods or services were provided to the donor in exchange for the donations) Include the name and address of your organization Include the date of the receipt February Workshops and Events New Executive Director Roundtable Wednesday, February 1-8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Have you recently succeeded an executive director at an area nonprofit organization? Nonprofits contending for state funding or program legislation must understand that everything they might want to accomplish this year will have to fit into the context of the big three issues that the Florida Legislature is addressing. We want to thank Linda Alexionok for coming from Tallahassee at the last minute to fill in for Dick Batchelor at the January 24th Nonprofit Legislative Advocacy Briefing. The packed auditorium of attendees left with "insider tips on how to work their important nonprofit legislative issues, a better understanding of what is driving the Florida Legislature this year, and the key state legislation nonprofit organizations need to know and be engaged in. For those of you who may have had trouble, please read the top five questions we have received so far. If you need additional assistance, please contact us at Q. I m not sure if I have a username set-up. A. If you are receiving this now, you have a username set-up. Your current username Your temporary password is: PNLC-2011 Once you have logged in initially, you can change both your username and password by selecting "Manage Profile then "Edit Bio.
4 Page 4 of 5 Q. The website is not accepting my username and password combination. A. Usernames and passwords are both case-sensitive. Also, please double check the accuracy of your username and password combination. If you continue to receive an error message, please call the Philanthropy Center at and we can re-set your username/password over the phone. Q. I reset my password but now I can t remember it. A. Underneath the sign-in box there is a link that reads "Forgot Your Password? Click the link and follow the prompts to re-set your password. If you have never logged in, your temporary password is set to PNLC Q. Why can t I login with my current address? A. Your username and temporary password were ed to you in early December. Where can I find my current and past registrations? A. After logging in, select "Manage Profile from the right-hand menu. Next, scroll down to the bottom and select "Events.
