2 The College Experience is a programme of short courses designed to offer a taster of College life and full time course content to young people about to enter their final year of school. If you expect to be applying for College after the summer holidays for entry in August 2011, this is an ideal opportunity to get an early insight into College life. Places on these courses are limited and places are offered on a first come first served basis. A number of the courses require specific safety equipment, including steel toe-capped boots. Please ensure you will be able to obtain the specific equipment required before registering an interest in these courses. What! Where! When! Courses will run on various dates throughout May/June 2010 Aberdeen College is based on four different sites across Aberdeen (, Clinterty, and Gordon). Transport arrangements to the correct Centre will be the responsibility of your school or family. Your College day will be from 9.30am to 3.30pm. You will have morning and afternoon breaks, and an hour for lunch. Please refer to the table at the back of this brochure for exact dates and locations of your preferred courses. Facilities At all College sites you will find canteen facilities and vending machines allowing you the option of buying hot meals, sandwiches, hot and cold drinks and snacks. If you prefer you can bring your own food. Health and Safety While at Aberdeen College you must adhere to all Health and Safety rules and instructions. You will be briefed on evacuation procedures and be given specific instruction relating to your course. Due to safety restrictions some courses are observation and demonstration only and some may highlight specific clothing requirements. Any pupil who does not adhere to the rules may be asked to leave the class and return to school. Making your choice Once you have had an opportunity to select your preferred courses, please complete the form attached at the back of this brochure and return it to your teacher. You are more likely to get a place on a course that interests you if you make 3 selections, although please note that due to demand, you may not always get your first choice of course. Places are limited to one course per pupil. If there is a specific reason that you need to choose a particular course date, please highlight this on your application form. Please note that places on courses are not guaranteed. If you are successful in being offered a place you will receive a confirmation letter. Booking with the College The designated member of school staff who deals with the School/College links will be responsible for booking places with the College and co-ordinating the arrangements.
