1 This tutorial will guide you to insall Openbravo from source, using Linux (Mint 11/Ubuntu 10.04) operating system. 1 Install PostgreSQL PostgreSQL is a database server that used by Openbravo. You should use version or above. Beside core of PostgreSQL, also you need to install pl/pgsql and UUID module. Install PostgreSQL using APT: sudo apt-get install postgresql postgresql-contrib Change default password: sudo /etc/init.d/postgresql start sudo su - postgres -c psql alter role postgres with password 'new_password'; q 2 Install Sun JDK Java Development Kit used to compile Openbravo. You must add unstable/non-free and multiverse inside repository source of your ubuntu to enable sun-java6-jdk installation. Install package using APT: sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jdk Set sun-jdk as default JDK: sudo update-java-alternatives -s java-6-sun Create environment variable JAVA_HOME and JAVA_OPTS: echo 'JAVA_HOME="/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun"' sudo tee -a /etc/environment echo 'JAVA_OPTS="-Djava.awt.headless=true -Xms384m -Xmx1024m -XX:PermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m "' sudo tee -a /etc/environment Make sure your environment variable have been applied: 1 / 8

2 source /etc/environment 3 Install Apache Tomcat Apache Tomcat is a web container, used by Openbravo as web server. Install tomcat using APT: sudo apt-get install tomcat6 tomcat6-admin sudo /etc/init.d/tomcat6 start Make sure your tomcat is run by access the default URL: Set variable CATALINA_HOME, CATALINA_BASE, and CATALINA_OPTS echo 'CATALINA_HOME="/usr/share/tomcat6"' sudo tee -a /etc/environment echo 'CATALINA_BASE="/var/lib/tomcat6"' sudo tee -a /etc/environment echo 'CATALINA_OPTS="-Djava.awt.headless=true -Xms384m -Xmx1024m -XX:PermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m" Change file /usr/share/tomcat6/bin/catalina.sh, add lines below: echo 'CATALINA_HOME="/usr/share/tomcat6"' sudo tee -a /etc/environment echo 'CATALINA_BASE="/var/lib/tomcat6"' sudo tee -a /etc/environment echo 'CATALINA_OPTS="-Djava.awt.headless=true -Xms384m -Xmx1024m -XX:PermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m"' Make sure your environment variable have been applied: source /etc/environment Change file /var/lib/tomcat6/conf/tomcat-users.xml to register manager role and user: <?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?> <tomcat-users> <role rolename="manager"/> < user username = "admin" password = 2 / 8

Install ant using APT: sudo apt-get install ant ant-optional Set environment variable for ANT_HOME and ANT_OPTS: echo 'ANT_HOME="/usr/share/ant"' sudo tee -a /etc/environment eccho 'ANT_OPTS="-Xmx1024M -XX:MaxPermSize=128M"' sudo tee -a /etc/environment Make sure your environment variable have been applied: source /etc/environment 5 Openbravo.properties configuration Paramter inside Openbravo.properties will be used by Openbravo during compilation process. Fill correct information in its fields, regarding your environment variable. Extract source ofopenbravo to your selected folder. We will call this folder as OPENBRAVO_HOME. Source of Openbravo ERP MP43 can be downloaded at: After extraction, using command line, go to OPENBRAVO_HOME, download configuration wizard by run command below: ant setup go to folder config, add executable permission to your configuration wizard: 3 / 8

4 hmod +x setup-properties-linux.bin Run the configuration wizard:./setup-properties-linux.bin 1. Date time option: format tanggal dan jam. 2. Stack configuration: 1. attachment directory: select your attachment folder to store your file image, PDF, etc, as attachment. You can use: OPENBRAVO_HOME/attachment. 2. context name: fill with openbravo context name Openbravo. 3. web url: leave it as default 4 / 8

5 4. context url: leave it as default 5. development parameter: leave it as default 6. Server database: select PostgreSQL. 7. Parameter PostgreSQL: 1. DB name: openbravo 2. admin role: postgres 3. admin role password: postgres 4. DB role: tad 5. DB role password: tad 5 / 8

6 6. DB server address: localhost 7. DB server port: Tomcat configuration: 1. tomcat manager url: leave it as default 2. tomcat admin username: leave it as default 3. tomcat admin password: leave it as default 4. Pentaho server: leave it as default Finish process by click forward. 6 / 8

7 6 Compile Source Openbravo Openbravo ERP now ready for compilation. go to OPENBRAVO_HOME, compile openbravo: ant install.source Be patient, this process take more minutes. After finishing compilation process, retart your tomcat. sudo service tomcat6 restart Wait a second, your tomcat is deploying the application, after 1 minutes, open your web browser (internet explorer, mozilla firefox, etc) go to You will get login page, your username is: Openbravo, password: openbravo. This credential is case sensitive. 7 / 8

8 7 Backup/Restore Openbravo To backup openbravo, you need to dump the database. Run command below to dump the database: pg_dump -U postgres - h localhost -F c -v openbravo > openbravo.backup After dump the DB, you need to zip the source. go to OPENBRAVO_HOME, run command below zip openbravo.zip -r. Now you get 2 files: openbravo.zip and openbravo.backup. To restore you openbravo, restore the DB: pg_restore -U postgres - h localhost -F c -v -d openbravo < openbravo.backup After DB restored, unzip the source: unzip openbravo.zip -d. Compile new restored openbravo by run command below: ant smartbuild 8 / 8
