3 Section 31 Micro-Coaxial / Twinaxial Cable & High Speed RibbonCable Delivering day s information at morrow s speed may sound like a cliché, but Hitachi Cable it s a must for survival in day s technology-driven world. Not long ago, experts claimed that copper cable had reached its performance limits and it would be impossible go any faster or over longer lengths. Today, copper is still the preferred choice in standard and advanced interconnect applications. Lower time delays, lower in-pair skew and lower pair--pair skew numbers are exceeding market expectations. Copper gauges continue get smaller with growing demands for smaller and more flexible cable solutions. Micro-coaxial and Twinaxial cables are used in sensitive medical cables for ultrasound and other applications. Lapps, cell phones and the latest pads and tablets use fine wire cables for communications purposes. Hitachi Cable is a world leader in fine wire solutions and we look forward new applications for these proven designs. Hitachi Cable offers a variety of low skew, high speed cables for specific cabling needs. The following pages offer a glimpse of some of our flat ribbon products used in high speed applications. For more information please contact us for the very latest in high speed, flat ribbon/ coaxial and twinaxial cable solutions.

17 Flat Cable Manufacturing Process 17 The Process Flat ribbon cable requires more than sophisticated oling, high quality plastics, and the latest extrusion equipment. It also requires a variety of measurement devices help us verify tightly-controlled ribbon dimensions and plastic thicknesses meet the UL voltage requirements. Non-contact laser measurement of ribbon dimensions provides production operars and feedback systems with results hundreds of times per second. Also, as part of in-line testing procedure, we continuously apply high voltage the cable during manufacturing. This process allows us better monir the quality of the cable produced and ensure proper quality control. Quality personnel look at the structure of the ribbon cable s plastic web ensure that wires can be separated by the cusmer. Our visual inspection system can detail the structure of the entire cross-section of a wide ribbon cable, allowing inspecrs see the product at great magnification where necessary. The Hitachi Difference With trained operars, the right equipment and sophisticated quality support, you can rest assured that Hitachi Cable will meet and exceed your flat cable needs.
