1 2013 LEGISLATIVE WRAP-UP DENVER METRO CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MAY 17, 2013 Jeani Frickey Saito, JFS Public Affairs Group LLC
2 Post Session: What is the House saying? It s easy to get lost in the individual fights that happened, the things that gained attention, the controversial issues, but we really were able to work together on some of the most important issues. -- House Speaker Mark Ferrandino (Colorado Statesman, May 13, 2013) I think it ll be remembered as one of the most divisive and overreaching sessions in the history of the state. -- House Minority Leader Rep. Mark Waller (CBS Denver, May 8, 2013)
3 Post-Session: What is the Senate saying? Colorado faces a lot problems so we took on those problems on, head on, and worked on common sense solutions. There s no such thing as taking on too much when you re trying to make life better for working Colorado families. -- Senate President John Morse (Colorado Springs Gazette, May 9, 2013) We saw some of the biggest debates, longest legislative fights that I ve seen here in over a decade the laser-like focus on jobs and the economy became a night-light very visible. -- Senate Minority Leader Sen. Bill Cadman (Colorado Statesman, May 13, 2013)
4 Post-Session: What is Governor Hickenlooper saying? Our goal is to have full communication at all times with both parties, and really do our very best to make sure that we don t have to veto anything. -- Colorado Statesman, May 13, 2013 An overreach implies that your ambitions exceed common sense. If you look at the list, it s not an excessive agenda. -- The Denver Post, May 9, 2013
