He said: I m pleased with my results and I would like to thank all my teachers for their support in helping me get the grades. I chose to come to college because it would teach me to become a bit more mature and self disciplined. The college has been good and you get a lot of help from the tutors as well as one-to-one support. Elvis is moving on to his A2 Levels before studying either Actuary or Science at university. Jaysal Patel has found that studying for his in Personal Training has given him not just only the knowledge he will need in his future career but skills he can apply throughout his life. The 21-year-old said: The course has been brilliant. I have learnt skills which will help me not just in fitness, but in life in general, such as business skills and interview techniques. The tutors have been great and helped me all the way through. I have now got a job at a city centre gym as a Personal Trainer which the tutors helped me get. I never expected to get a job so quickly. Nineteen-yearold Leesha Memmi is setting sail for a new career as a stylist on a luxury cruise liner after completing her hairdressing qualifi cations at the Metro One campus. I m really proud that all my hard work paid off. Seventeenyear-old Liam O Connell- Perks enquired about doing A Level Biology at the college but was advised by a science tutor that the BTEC in Applied Science would give him a more rounded qualifi cation. Liam said: The course covers biology, chemistry and physics rather than just focusing on one subject and I m glad I chose to go down the BTEC route. Matthew Hill started at the college on a construction course and progressed to an apprenticeship with help from the college. The 16-year-old, who is now an apprentice bricklayer, said: I was really happy to get the job and the apprenticeship has been great. Although she left school without any qualifi cations, enrolling on a beauty course led to 18-yearold Bethany Davies being offered a place at university! Bethany said: I didn t do very well at school so starting at college was hard, but the tutors did everything they could to help me succeed and I ve now been offered a place to study a Foundation Degree in Spa Management at the University of Central Birmingham.
