Problem: Hardly readable and understandable Reqs. & Algorithms (example from NH90 Navigation). Requirements needs to be Verified. Difficult to reach high Test Coverage and set up sufficient Test Cases. 1st Step: Implementaion of Algorithms in MS-Excel, Display of Position Data in xy-diagram , Seite 3.

5 First Steps => A Tool is born (2) Advantages: Complex Algorithms could be verified easily with low effort and standard Office Tool Excel Graphical visualization can be done in several ways using Excel Diagrams Disadvantages: Implemented Algorithms where still hardly readable / traceable due to MS Excel pseudo code No simulation of graphical Input devices (Man( an-machine-interface, nterface, MMI) Solution: Implement Algorithmus to be verified into Excels Visual Basic Application (VBA)-Modules , Seite 5.
6 Tool Development (1) Step 1: Outsourcing of Formulars / Algorithms placed in MS Excel-Cells into VBA-Modules. Advantages: Algorithms to be tested can be taken nearly unchanged. Modular Structure. Easy to Maintain / Expand. Possible to build Libraries & Re-Usable Components. Cyclic References Possible. Disadvantage: Still no MMI-Simulation / Verification done! , Seite 6.
7 Tool Development (2) Step 2: Expand Requirements-Verification Verification-Tool with Simple Graphical User Interface using Excel-Basics. According to NH90-Project a Display and Keyboard Unit (DKU) is simulated , Seite 7.
8 Tool Development (3) New Situation: Requirements Verification as well as simple graphical Simulation n could be performed using standard MS Office Tool with low effort and less time consuming than analysing by hand. Because of dynamic Simulation via VBA-Modules a very high Test coverage can be achieved. If Visual Basic Application (VBA) part of Excel is used, much more m advantages can be used. Considerations: Algorithms Verification can be performed sufficiently. Possibilities for graphical elements are very limited (Excel Sheet). Modularity of graphical elements does not convince. User Interface is still an Excel Sheet which might not be usefull for all Projects / Customers. In order to customize the Requirements Verification Tool and to have more flexibility for other Application Areas a new approach for further Development has been choosen , Seite 8.
9 Tool Development (4) Step 3: Leave Excel completely and implement Graphical User Interface parts as well as Diagramms from MS Excel into MS Visual-Basic Basic- Forms. Re-use Modules from VBA and link them to appropriate Forms , Seite 9.
