1 Summer University is an exciting and unique opportunity for students in grades K-8 to wrap up work from their current grade level, get a boost for the next grade level and/or engage in a fun and exciting enrichment class of their choice.

2 General Information Sessions of Summer University 4 Week Sessions June 13 th - July 7 th, 2016 Monday-Thursday and no school on July 4th Session 1 Session 2 Time: 8:00-9:50 Time: 10:10-12:00 Breakfast and lunch is served daily. Breakfast is served 7:30-8:00 and lunch is served 12:00-12:30. All students are encouraged to register for both sessions (morning 1 & 2). Students may select any 2 classes that they would like. If a student needs district transportation, they must register for both sessions. If a student is being transported to school by parents/guardians, they do have the option to register for just one session. If a student is recommended by their building principal to take a wrap-up class, they may also choose 1 additional class of their choice. When registering your child for classes, please note that the listed grade levels refer to the current school year and students should be registered at their current grade level. 3 PRIMARY (K-2) Grade levels refer to school year PRIMARY (GRADES K-2) Kindergarten Wrap up Grade K Students entering first grade are given the opportunity to review and enhance literacy and math skills. Stories, songs, games and crafts will be used to reinforce the pre-reading and early math skills that predict success in first grade. Kinder - 1er grado Costo: Gratis Alumnos que entrarán a 1er y 2do grado el próximo año tendrán la oportunidad de mejorar su habilidad en la lectura y matemáticas. Boost into First Grade - Grade K Students entering first grade are given the opportunity to enhance literacy and math skills for first grade. This class is intended for students who are at or above grade level. Students will be assigned to classes that will provide the most appropriate level of Primary Wrap up Grades 1-2 Students are given the opportunity to review and enhance literacy and math skills. This class is not intended for students whose skills are at or above grade level. Boost into the Next Grade Level - Grades 1-2 Students are given an opportunity to enhance literacy and math skills for the next grade level. This class is intended for students who are at or above grade level.

Operation Teamwork- Grades K-2 Teacher: Kellie Mahan Students will experience a variety of fun and exciting team sports, while improving individual skills, learning new techniques and building teamwork. Hola Amigos!!- K-2 Teacher: Lisa Johnson-Thake Students experience the Spanish language and culture through exciting and fun activities. Kids in the Kitchen- Grades K-2 Teacher: Pat Hickey Students see how fun and interesting cooking can be. Come and explore while having fun creating nutritious foods for you and your family! Rockin the Rainforest - Grades K-2 Teacher: Carrie Schneider Students will discover the Amazon rainforest. Through hands-on activities the Amazon rainforest comes alive with plants and animals! Keymaster Grades K 2 Teacher: Stephanie Winter Students are introduced to keyboarding, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Google. Focus will be in helping students become familiar with technology while making learning fun and interesting!

5 INTERMEDIATE (3-5) Grade levels refer to school year INTERMEDIATE (GRADES 3-5) Intermediate Wrap up Grades 3-4 Students are given the opportunity to review and enhance literacy and math skills. This class is not intended for students whose skills are at or above grade level. Boost into the Next Grade Level - Grades 3-4 Students are given an opportunity to enhance literacy and math skills for the next grade level. This class is intended for students who are at or above grade level. 6 Explode the Code - Grades 3-5 Teacher: Julie Gesin Students experience a wide array of coding lessons and activities online that suit kids of all ages and levels. Star Wars, Minecraft and Legos make this a more game-based course. 8 Scene Stealers Grades 6 8 Teacher: Robert Winter Students experience theatre through auditions, voice, actions, reactions, improvisation, performance, and nonverbal communication. Students will leave this course with an added confidence in pursuing an interest in theatre. Diggin in the Dirt Grades 6 8 Teacher: Katelyn Kohley Students will have an opportunity to go outside of the classroom for an introduction to agriculture. This course will look at the relationship of agriculture to human survival and human interactions, the place of agriculture in human history and the roles of consumption and production of food in society. LEGO Robotics - Grades 6 8 Teacher: Robert Winter Students experience creative problem solving skills to become the critical thinkers and creators of the future by making their own creations through playful learning experiences. Mission Possible Grades 6 8 Teacher: TBD Students track a dangerous scientist around the world to prevent his release of a deadly microorganism. On their virtual journey, they perform scientific investigations in biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science, and math that relate to the geographic area where they have followed the scientist. This will be an engaging hands on investigation to help develop critical thinking and scientific problem solving skills and make science fun! ( This is a double session course and runs 8:00 12:00)
