Area I: Composition EN 101 ENG 101 EN 102 ENG 102 Area II: Humanities and Fine Arts 12 semester hours of courses approved for the humanities and fine arts (HU, L & FA) designations, to include 3 semester hours of courses approved for the fine arts (FA) designation and 3 semester hours of courses approved for the literature (L) designation. Each student must complete a 6-semester-hour sequence in either literature or history. See note below. 2 Humanities PHL 200 PHL 206 This is a required course for the Capstone College of Nursing. Fine Arts ARH/MSC 198 (1961 until 1983) ART 100 ARH 251 ART 100 ARH 252 ART 203 ARH 253 ART 204 MUS 121 MUS 101 TH 114 THR 120 or THR 126 You will need one of the above courses. Remember that the equivalent course numbers are only valid at junior and community colleges in the state of Alabama. History / Literature Note: All students are required to complete a six credit hour sequence in either History or Literature. Students opting to enroll in the Literature sequence must also complete an approved three credit History course. Students opting to enroll in the History sequence must also complete an approved three credit Literature course. If students take two history courses and one literature course, one ADDITIONAL literature, humanities or fine arts course is required to satisfy the 12 hour humanities core requirement.

3 Area III: Natural Science You'll need 8 semester hours of science courses including 2 hours of laboratory experience (or the equivalent) and 3 semester hours of mathematics at the precalculus algebra level or higher. Mathematics MATH 110 MTH 110 MATH 112 MTH 112 You will need one of the above courses. Area IV: History, Social & Behavioral Sciences You will need 3 semester hours of history and 9 semester hours of social and behavioral sciences. History (see note) HY 101 HIS 101
