4 Clorox Executive Committee Printer-Friendly Version Laura Stein Senior Vice President General Counsel & Corporate Secretary Laura Stein returned to The Clorox Company on January 18, 2005, and serves as senior vice president - general counsel & secretary with responsibility for the company's legal services, internal audit, compliance and business development functions. She chairs the Clorox crisis management team, co-sponsor's Clorox's enterprise risk management program, co-chairs the Clorox disclosure committee and is a member of Clorox's employee benefits committee. From January 2000 through January 2005, Stein was senior vice president - general counsel of the H.J. Heinz Company where she was responsible for Heinz's worldwide legal, ethics, compliance, corporate secretary and enterprise risk management matters. She was president of Heinz's Global Organization for the Advancement of Leadership for women and was a director of the H.J. Heinz Company Foundation. Prior to joining Heinz, Stein served eight years with The Clorox Company, with her last position being assistant general counsel - regulatory affairs. Prior to joining Clorox, Stein was a business lawyer with Morrison & Foerster in San Francisco where she was involved in mergers and acquisitions; securities, general corporate and nonprofit corporate law; and financial and international transactions. Stein is a director of Franklin Resources, Inc., of Nash Finch Company and of Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and is a director and officer of the Association of Corporate Counsel. She is the chair of the American Bar Association (ABA) Asia Law initiative, is immediate past chair of the ABA Commission on Domestic Violence, and is on the board of the ABA Center for Rule of Law Initiatives. She is a member of the American Law Institute. In 2003, the Harvard Law Bulletin highlighted Stein as one of 50 alumnae who "have used their law degrees to take them to extraordinary places." Stein grew up in Minneapolis. She received her J.D. from Harvard Law School, and is a graduate of Dartmouth College where she earned undergraduate and master's degrees.
